Simple, it's a Federal law. It doesn't make exceptions. Do you question your superiors with their commands?

Marijuana is also a federal offense, but cali let's you sell if you have a cc...and its decriminalized in other areas. Federal and state levels don't always agree with each other, you see.


Obviously the above is just an example. But at least you will be able to carry. You've got that going for ya!

You know why? Because you also have to be 21 to purchase a handgun in the United States. So unless you intend on concealing a Benali shot gun or stuffing an AR-10 down your pants...then the point is rather moot.

Also something to consider...and I explain this to guys all the time. Just because you can enlist at 18 doesn't mean you're mature. 18 years old and in the military means you have absolutely no responsibility and your days are spent as a private being supervised by your team leader, who is generally atleast 21.

You can debate this to death, but it's statistically true.

Very incorrect. Vermont does not issue CCW permits. The state of Vermont has made it legal to conceal or open carry without any permits as long as you:

Do not have the intention to commit an unlawful act
Do not have possession of dangerous or deadly weapon in a school bus or school building or on school property
And do not possess deadly weapons on government property

HOWEVER! You still have to be 21 to purchase a handgun or handgun ammo from an FFL in the United States.

So a 18 y/o can still carry in that state then, their parent/legal guardian can buy them a handgun of their choice transfer ownership to them.

The same person can buy them ammo.

So they would be able to carry.


I agree with your being 18 your not fully mature yet however some 18 y/o's are very mature, not many but some are.

You still are mostly wrong. You are right that VT does not issue CCW permits, but their law states that anyone who can legally own a firearm can carry it without a permit. You can legally own a handgun at the age of 18, you just can't buy it from an FFL. There are other legal ways of obtaining a firearm besides an FFL.

I have my CCW in California (through San Diego County), Nevada, Utah, and North Carolina. I'm pretty up to par on the gun thing.

Yeah that's correct. So as long as state laws allow that. But most state laws allow third party sales of hand guns as well as family transfers to persons under 21, so it is a loop hole. But again, it's still rather pointless. I cant think of many 18 year old kids with a legitimate reason to own a handgun, not to mention they still need to have someone of legal age to buy ammo for them.

There are also many adults who lack maturity.

If there was a big problem in the places that allow 18 year olds to carry, the anti-gun media would be all over it, but you never hear anything about it. When you turn 18, you are granted all of the rights that you are entitled to being a citizen of the United States, except for one, unless you live in one of the select few states who allow it.

What is in red implies that because you cannot purchase a handgun from an FFL, you cannot carry under the age of 21 period, which is not true.

You aren't the only one "up to par" on the whole gun thing.
