Living in the country is nice. But I'm still losing money by not having a monthly sewer bill. Even if the sewer bill was $100/month, it would take me 100 years just to break even from the $10k septic system cost.

didn't your septic come with the house? My waterill is 0 because i have a well and septic system. We have had to get the tank pumped out once in 14 years so i cannot complain about that.

Usually your sewer bill is just once again your water bill. They figure if you pumped 250 gallons in then you washed 250 gallons out and figure that is the amount of water they are going to have to treat.

My cousin had a water line break in his yard and didn't know it until the bill came. I would check out your line from the meter to the house and under your house real good for any soft spots or water logged areas. On the up side the water co. gave him a break on the bill due to it being a line break and reduced the bill considerably for him. You may want to ask about yours.

+1.

I doubt it's leaking inside your house, you probably would have noticed. Maybe you should take a walk around your property. When the ground suddenly disappears and you're wondering where this swimming pool came from, you found the leak.

actually just got our bill yesterday
I have an apt with one roommate and (this one is a little low because he was mostly out of town) we are at 260 gal for the month or 13 bucks
I cant wash my car here, so that would be higher, but your bill seems pretty outrageous and there is no way thats "normal" like they said.

My bill was 71.00 for trash sewer and water for a house with 3 kids and 2 adults. That was just over 500 gallons.

I shut the line off at the house to test the service line from the meter and it did not budge, but I only left if off for a couple of hours. I might try it over night, when every one goes to bed. This house has never flooded, even without a sump pump in the pump hole for 10 years (just put one in about a year ago)

With myself and my fiance, we pay about $90-110 per month for city water and sewer. I'm not irrigating the yard right now but wash the cars quite a lot. The city water here in my town is a little bit more expensive than surrounding areas for whatever reason. Thank god we have reclaim for the irrigation system.

I built my house so there was nothing here before I started. It was just a big field full of cows and cow pies.

Mine is $75+ for 3 people. Watering the grass is the biggest use of water, and I only water mine when it starts looking brown.

Easy way to find if you have a leak is to shut off everything inside the house(toliet, sinks, ect) then watch your meter outside for the next hour and see if it moves.
