Now my other knife is a gear knife

Sweet. Spiderco and CRKT make some great knives as well. Can never go wrong with a Benchmade.

I've wanted a Benchmade knife for quite a while now but I can never justify spending the money on one. All my knives just sit around for opening product packages or self defense (if someone were to break into my place) so I usually pick up cheap knives when I come across them. I need to find some reason to justify buying a really nice knife

I was looking at some of them a bit ago and their cheaper fixed blade knives were running $85+. Took a look at the automatic knives as well (since I fucking love those) and most were $300+. I usually spend less than $15 per knife. They're nothing fancy but they do their job

Picked this one up on ebay about 6 months ago for $12 shipped (less for me because I had "ebay bucks" to spend)

I can't find a manufacturer's website for it though. It's got a bear head in a circle with "san jia" under it on the other side of the blade. But it's made of 440c stainless steel which is one of the materials Benchmade uses in some of their knives so that makes me happy

i can get blue box benchmades which are right below black box for about 65-75 bucks. I just picked up to griptilians tanto's one with a silver blade serrated and the other with black blade full edge.

nice! the last two knives ive had have been smith & wesson's, i like them. they might not be the nicest thing out there but it cost me 22$ and i get to have it diamond edge sharpened at work whenever i want. so it always works great for me. and its nice and lightweight.

Can't go wrong with a Ka-Bar

not exactly compact though.
benchmade does make some good stuff, i got a "tanto pika" for about 40$ i think
got 2 ken onion kershaw's
probably 3 or 4 crkt's
a gerber or 2
a handfull of other ones i cant remember.
they all make good stuff, kinda depends on what your uses are going to be.

my soldiers just got me the limited edition rambo IV knife and they all signed it as a end of deployment gift. pretty nice knife.
