What octane should I run

Team, I've owned my car for about 2 weeks now and she's great. What gas should I be feeding her? I've been giving her premium unleaded. Is that overkill?

as long as you don't have detonation problems there is no reason to use the premium unless you have a tune that is optimized for the higher octane, other than than that you are just throwin your money away. good luck.

Too much octane hurts power output. Internal combustion engines make max power when they are on the verge of detonation. Using more octane than what is needed will cost horsepower, not gain it.

87 is recommended unless you have a Mach1 or Cobra, then it's 91.

so 87 for 2v ( unless high octane tune ), 87-91 for 3v, and 91-93 for 4v.

mach1's are 4v. But basically yes.

Octane rating is resistance to burning, so running high octane is only running gas that is more resistant to detonation, if you dont need it, youre wasting your money.

Exhaust has nothing to do with octane requirements. Octane requirements are based strictly on compression ratio, timing and power adders.
