Home theater system question

Im looking at buying one but not spend a huge amount of money, like 180 bucks max.

I know it wont win any awards but it'll be a lot better than the stock speakers in my Panasonic Plasma.

I found this one. Im about to buy it I think. But I got one question.

Will it switch over to TV too? It has an upconverting DVD in it and thats a plus but does it switch over to TV so I watch TV through suround too?

Amazon Amazon

Edit: yep it does.

How do you guys think it would work out for me? Its a rather small living room.

yes. just buy an optical cable with it.

should do just fine. i was never a fan of tiny satellite speakers but it sounds like it will do great for your application

"DVD upscaling to near HD picture quality via HDMI 1"

That just sounds sketchy to me....so is that like near 720 or lower? It doesn't tell you much.

If you can stay away from the ones with the built in dvd player, you'll get a much better receiver.

I think it'll work fine for what you're wanting. It's cheap, it'll make surround noise, and it'll be better than your TV speakers.

It won't be anything to write home about. But it seems like it'll do what you're wanting it to do.

Woody do some research on upscaling dvd players. Some experts say that you cant tell the difference between a good one and a blueray. I currently have a pioneer upscale dvd player and its brocast in 1080I resolution

Im going to keep looking. I dont need one with a player built in i just want the amp and speakers

I would never buy a soundbar. Get a surround sound setup before you go with a sound bar
