found a 96 cobra on ebay for cheap. only problem is, it was in a wreck earlier this year. i was wondering if you guys could estimate how much it would cost to fix the damage. here is the vehicle description from ebay:

The damage is contained to the right rear quarter panel and rear axle. The quarter panel is totalled, and will need to be replaced. The right rear wheel/spindle/axle is broken or missing, and the right tail light is broken as well. I don't know the exact nature of hte damage to the rear axle, but the axle tube does not appear to be bent. The axle snapped off flush with the axle tube, but left the caliper, sway bar/end link and coil spring intact. The decklid operates normally, and shows only a small dent in the center, just above the license plate. The factory spoiler has a crack in teh right hand support, but is in otherwise good condition. The right front wheel/tire is damaged, and both will need to be replaced. Also, the right side rocker moulding has been knocked loose. There is no damage to the glass, right hand door, decklid hinges.

thats gonna be expensive, and so is the paint. I heard that the mystic paints you have to completely repaint the entire car if something happens to the paint. I doubt it's true, but I know it isn't cheap.


The more I look at the pics the less of a mystic it looks. All of them the paint is just black. I understand it could have been a cloudy day, but still there was still light. It's not a real mystic.

I'd estimate $2500 if you get it done at the shop. That's including labor. Since there's no tire...that means that area probably took a good shot as well. Hope there's no damage to the brake/axle area. +1 with cricket on the paint being expensive. Yeah...I can see the exhaust from where the quarterpanel/rear bumper should be. That's definately not good. Working on that car for 4 hours a day...it would probably take a week and a half to fix.

It's going to need some major electrical work, too. I bring the estimate to $3000-3500 if you get it done at a body shop. I see a liquid stain under the car in front of the brake rotor. I hope that's been there before the car got there....

the mystic paint is awsome...the ford rep has to bring it out to you and he mixes it himself and takes the unused parts back....least last time my bddy painted 1 he did....but the cool thing was it matched itself to the rest of the car alls we had to do was paint the damaged area and blend the clear into the adjacent parts

if ya look at the pics there is a slight color change to it...could be xtreamly dirty right now i dunno but there is a color change in the front pic look at the bumper compared to the rest of the car the bumper is green the rest is purpleish...

i love chameleon paint... but not on a mustang... i prefer hilite on stangs..... fits the curves on the sn95 better

The Cobra in the link has frame damage...And ALOT of work needs to be done to get it right...

The only way that could even be a half decent price is if the person was a body man and even then you would still have a salvaged title...
