This sounds horribly one-uppy... but it's only because back when I was 15, there were no rules where I lived about 15 year old kids working full time... I was flipping burgers... at 15, just before my 16th birthday, I was promoted to assistant manager, then manager at 16... that's a fun dynamic when you're 15/16 managing 30+ year old coworkers. lol

But yeah, even 19 over a 32 year old? Not that different a dynamic. A lot of older people have a problem with that.

I dunno, maybe that's partly why I haven't forgotten as an older man now, to keep treating younger people with respect. I been through that horror show. lol

I always wondered what made me look so fucking old at such a young age. lmfao

I swear at 15 I thought I was going to be six four, like my old man, because at that age, I was the same size I am now, minus about 25 lbs of gut- just shy of six feet, a hundred eighty lbs. But something happened and I never grew another inch. lol

Blame it on my mom- she's four foot eleven.

You've been rode hard and put away wet far too many times Rick. That's why you look ancient.

Heard from my boy. He's exhausted. They are still dragging them all over campus. Will be until 11pm. lol He'll sleep good tonight for sure.

But, when we let her go, on to the next 'phase'? of life... we let her go, and let her make her own decisions for the most part. Sometimes she misinterprets my strong voice as 'telling her what to do' still... but it's been worth the battle. She grew up being interested in boys, but not having to have them be her EVERYTHING, you know? And it translated into her not being hung up over being dolled up 24/7.... when she lets her hair down though, she's pretty stunning... but somehow she still has that innate thing you girls have, where y'all never think you're pretty. S'up with that?

And yeah... I know. Like I said. It was super cool to look old at that age... it got me into a lot of things, a lot of women, and a lot of jobs... but it caught up to me in my early 30s. lol. So any of you young guys reading this who are down about looking super young? Embrace it. I SWEAR to you you'll be happy about it later in life.

Ya my mom raised me the same way. Modest clothes and no make up. I don't feel comfortable in skirts or really shorts. I know it's silly but overarching pants almost all year but I'm gla she has good values and you raised her right. Your a good dad.

You know the last month I have seen nash and drew grow so much closer. It's amazing really how good he is with him. I heard kids today in toys r us saying hey dad! And I was so stoked to know my kid has someone he feels that way towards. All the dads that stuck through it and raised their kids or stepped in where other people slacked are really amazing. I feel so lucky. I really do.

Thanks Megan. A huge part of that was Chrissy, though... I just happened to agree with her on a lot of her beliefs, which is one of the reasons why her and I are forever.

I'm not surprised that Drew is eliciting that type of reaction from Nash... I mean, I don't fuckin know Drew from Adam if we're honest. But based on watching the things he writes here when he's being serious... I'm not surprised. He strikes me as straight up and truly loyal.

Reminds me of that saying…Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Dad. It's very true. If it weren't for my husband, I'm not sure my kids would have weathered the divorce so well.

I've actually tried to get him to drink and he won't. He went to Canada this summer and could have drank legally but wouldn't. He just doesn't want to. He's never been much of a follower but even given all that, I did tell him to be safe and smart. Make good decisions whatever you do - even with sex - and just remember to always make us proud. I truly am not worried about him. Good, smart kid.

Haha yeah my mom went snack food crazy, he'll appreciate it and wish he let you buy him more when he runs out though haha

Good, my mom was the same way, offer me a sip of beer or of wine, i always said no thanks I'm good mom, but things change just make sure you let him know to be safe is all.

It's weird all the freshman are moving in now and i look at them and think.... holy shit, i was doing this same thing 4 years ago. and they all look soooo young, i feel kinda like i did when i was a senior in HS, just more confident i guess haha idk its funny to me. Im buzzed though, so who knows what i feel.....im gonna stop talking.

... chances are... knowing you, your kids would have been fine either way. But you were lucky to find a man that has been a true Dad. That shit's pretty rare.

Yeah my parents were incredibly over protective of me. My Mom hated it if I got dirty. I loved to play outside though so was dirty all the time. She was always fussing over me and wouldn't ever let me go do anything. I vowed to never treat my kids like that when I was little. I remember how I felt and try to do the opposite for my kids…when it makes sense of course…. He's lucky though - he's got one of the better food courts right in the basement of his dorm. He's on the 12 meals plan so he shouldn't ever be hungry, but sometimes you just need a little comfort food and there are times when the court isn't open. I think this one is open 24hrs a day 5-6 days a week though.

The visiting hours are 24 hours on the weekend, so I see a sleepover w. his girlfriend in the near future. But - he's a young adult now and I trust them to be smart about it. Also had the chat…will be doing it again. And again, and again.

If you feel old, think how I felt moving my kid in!

Yes it is. I think he's feeling a little misty as well. Though he knows how important this is. He lived with his folks in SA until he was about 22 then sold what he owned, packed two suitcases and moved to England. He was also pretty overly protected. Of course in that country, not necessarily a bad thing.
