I was a part of a Flashmob in Times Square

I was in New York this past week for a multitude of reasons (I'm an actor so I was auditioning, taking TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONS of amazing classes with amazing people and I was a part of this wonderful group) and during this week a group of 56 of us College actors put together a short number to flashmob Times Square in New York.

We put this together in about an hour.

If you want to spot me, I'm in the gray button down shirt with the buzz cut.

Man. I've always wanted to do something like that...

But I can't sing. So I want to do something dumb...

A flashmob is basically any performance or massive gathering in public that stops the flow of normal life. hahahaha.

This was actually the flashmob that basically started it all.

It's all I know. I've been acting since I was in elementary school. I love it.

And these days, you can't just sing, or just act, or just be a really great dancer; you have to be great at all of the above AND have the perfect look. It's a tough business but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I was in a National Tour of Hairspray about three years ago and it was the greatest experience of my life.

Kind of always wanted to do one that didn't involve singing or dancing...

Cool nonetheless. I get a kick out of watching them in really weird places.

Hahahaha! Yeah, I like the spot we picked. We cleared a good portion of the TKTS steps backing up to 47th. hahaha!

And by the way, I meant to message you and tell you, I spent some good time between Brooklyn, Astoria and Queens doing just apartment hunting during my last day in the city, and I really like Astoria. I was finding I can really get a lot more for my money there, and plus the R train from central Astoria makes Mid-Town and the Theatre District incredibly accessible.

Oh well, next time. Astoria is really nice; I have a friend who moved there from mid-town to save (a lot of) money and loves the place now.

It's too bad though, I was looking for something to do and have it in with some restauranteurs in alphabet city. Great food, cocktails and the women in that area are slamming (I have a girlfriend, but I can still look).

Do you live in Alphabet city? I thought you were in Brooklyn? The only two boroughs i've heard negative things about lately have been the Bronx and Alphabet City.

And we definitely will need to grab a beer or something as soon as move out to NY.

What I saw of Astoria (mostly areas around Steinway and the 10 or so blocks surrounding) seemed to be so awesome. Lots of young people like myself; it seemed like a vast majority of the population was under 30.

No, I live in Brooklyn, down near Coney Island. Alphabet city just has a lot of great restaurants and bars (though, I wouldn't really want to live there). A bit hipsterish and definitely gets pricey (but not upper-east side pricey), but worth it for amazing food and fantastic drink selection. Steinway is a haven for students and recent ex-students, so lots of 20 somethings. Also, apparently quite a car culture over there. Mostly ricers, but notable nonetheless in an increasingly anti-car city.

Yeah, around Steinway street and the shops and brownstones surrounding it felt like walking around on a really diverse college campus. hahaha.

And wow, you are way south there in Brooklyn! If I do end up in Brooklyn I think I'll need to stay in the Crown Heights/Prospect Park area just so that I'm still within 10-15 minutes to Mid-Town on the Subway.

I also like the fact that I found so many buildings with garages over in Astoria. My friend Tiffany's apartment comes with covered parking right in front of her building and I literally was like "whaaaa????"
