motorcycle license?

ok well im only 17, but i was reading some stuff that said if u have a parent sign something u can get ur motorcycle license when ur 16, i was just wondering if that is true or not, also if ur 18 and have a normal drivers license what else do u need to get ur license, i turn 18 in september and have always wanted a sports bike
also what kind of bike would u recomend for a beginer and do u have to take classes or anything
doubt my parents would even let me get a bike wile i was still living at home and in highschool but i was just wondering, but they might let me, my dad and some of my uncles have bikes so u never know

to learn about bikes and what would suit you, check out www.sportbikes.net

as far as motorcycle license laws go, go to google and type in "wisconsin motorcyle license"

you should get links to your states laws on getting a motorcycle license

Also check out in your area for safety courses...I def recommend that if you have never riden before to take the class...It will teach how to ride. Start with a small bike...maybe even a dirt bike...Its a dangerous sport so the more experience you have and the more knowledge you have the better off you will be. Take your time to learn and it will pay off in the end!

you won't be able to get insurance though. No company insures motorcycle riders until they are 21. Well thats what all the insurance companies I know of do.

I had to take a test at the DMV to get my permit...They have little books you can pick up, study and then go take the test...Get your permit....Easy...But you cannot ride at night or with a passenger with a permit (well you are not supposed too!)

I took a 3 day course at S&S powersports in southern Indiana to get my LICENSE..It was like $75 or something...Really easy...I missed one question on the final test and 0 points on the riding part of the test...they give you a bunch of papers and you take them to your local DMV and get the motorcyle endorsement on your license.

You dont have to take the course...If you want to take your own bike to the testing site, you then complete their test which is harder than the three day course's test, but still relatively easy...It is like $10, but harder...Since you havent been on one, i would recommend taking the three day course. It was really easy, but i have been on bikes my whole life...If i could have done it again, i wouldnt have taken the course and just paid ten bucks for the harder riding test!

As far as a starting bike, nothing bigger than 600cc, and if you have never even been on a dirtbike, then a 250 or 500 is more for you...I can talk bikes all day, they are my second love!

about how much would the insurance be?
ive been looking at like gsx's and ninjas would those be alright to start or should i go with something else, im not gunna get one probally till next summer cause i dont turn 18 till septemeber and i would only be able to ride it for a couple months b4 winter starts

also do i have to be 150 lbs to ride one cause i only weigh like 125 lol
reason i ask about 150 lbs is cause i was reading this
http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/drivers...s/motorcyc.htm

On a 600cc bike, it was about 1450 a year! I got quoted on a 2006 yamaha R1 for well over two thousand! Being young sucks for insurance on bikes.

I am waiting until i turn 21 to get one on my own....My dad had me on his insurance and it was only a couple hundred more a year...

I would beef up some if i were you...125 is crazy man...A 600 will get away from you quick. But i dont know if there is a weight limit.

But nothing will compensate for their ridiculous weight and many pieces of archaic technology. Can anyone say external primary drive?
