Should I buy this 1982 Malibu Classic?

Today, I found a 6 cylinder 1982 Malibu Classic for sale with 60,000 original miles, and it is basically a 1 owner car. It was owned by an old lady for 25 years, then bought by the individual that owns it now about 4 months ago. He is selling it to buy a cadillac which his friend is selling. The guy who owned it had 22s on it, and put new suspension on it to lift the car up a few inches (I'm not sure exactly what he put on, I just know that it's some type of air suspension in the rear and springs up front). The 22s are off now, and the car just has plain black metal rims.

It has very little interior wear (no pedal/steering wheel wear), a beautiful engine (with no dry rotted hoses or anything), it runs excellent and smooth and starts up faster than my 99 GT. All panels match up and this car looks to never have been wrecked. Carfax is clean and shows just these 2 owners, and has like 18 years between the records, which makes me think this car may have sat up for a long while at one time.

It has quite a few rust holes which were repaired around the car, but the repair wasn't the greatest. The holes look to have been scraped, bondoed, and painted. They are uneven, but I think that I can fix this. These holes do not leak water or anything. The paint is in nice condition, but a front fender and door are dented/scraped up from the lady who owned it running into something.

I plan on going the lifted 'box' route with this car, with some 22s or 24s on it, so the suspension on it is a plus. This is also the only reason that I'm buying a V6 and not a V8.

I am looking for somewhat of a small project car out of this, a car to learn a little bit about body work on.

He is asking $2,500 for it, but I won't pay more than $2k cash, which I think he will accept. Is this a decent price for this car? The most appealing thing to me is the low mileage. I basically just want something reliable that I can toy around with and sink a bit of money into.

I think they are somewhat ugly too, but I do believe this car has potential. I've always had a hard-on for older raised up cars with huge ass rims on them

If you are going to throw you money at something, throw it at something nice.
