Barber Shop Music below apartment advice

Hey Guys/Gals,

I mostly lurk on this mustang site and enjoy reading everyones weird threads on their life. so now its time for my weird thread that most people seem to eat up.

My dilemma?

I live above a barber shop in downtown St. louis...(can you imagine the music coming out of that place?) the bass and music is unbearable in the mornings...like 5-6am and is also loud during the day. like the floor shakes... Wakes me up every morning and on weekends its AWFUL!

We have talked many many times with landlord...nothing comes of it..left notes, asked for them to turn down the bass.

Yet they are assholes.

So here is where you guys come in...any fun ideas to get back at them?

all we have left is calling police for sound ordinance...

For every action there is an equal or opposite reaction.

Honestly, I can understand how you could have enough of it as that would be annoying. You could always just start jamming some country music in the afternoon until you get your point across ( but if your anything like me jamming country would be just as torturous for you as it would be for them ).

If all else fails, do you have a common breaker box? When you get tired of it just walk out and flip the breaker (if you share a common breaker itself just stick something in an outlet to blow the breaker every hour).

5-6am? What kind of barber shop plays loud music then? I'd scope out the barbershop's speaker placement. My neighbors used to have a subwoofer on the shared wall and played GTA all night. I got them to move it off the wall, end of problem.

Also, living above someone YOU have the advantage. Water can "unfortunately" leak down from your place through vents etc... Or, you can drop heavy things on the floor at odd hours.

That makes perfect sense. Another story for you: Sophmore year I was trying to sleep (I had a very hard time sleeping in the dorms) and the guys above me decided to jump up and down to the Cha Cha Slide. I was on the top bunk, so they were probably 3ft from my face. I went upstairs to tell them to STFU but the door was locked and they couldn't hear me knocking. Soooo, I decided to slap the window good to get their attention. I slapped it so hard it shattered.

And boy, did that get their attention! They immediately stopped jumping and looked out the non-functional window mouths agape. I calmly told them to turn the music down, and they were like "you broke our window!" I repeated my statement, went downstairs and locked my door. They got their RA to come looking for me and my hall mates "didn't know where I was". After that night, I never heard a peep out of that room all year, and their window remained broken for a few weeks as well (and I never had to pay, even after admitting breaking it).

Get bigger and better speakers so you can blast music all day and ruin their business.... doet. I have battles with people next door to me sometimes. i think they give up when i actually turn my bass on. oh and if you do, turn everything way up and play this song.

Have you tried going and talking to them instead? Don't beat around the bush, go straight to the source and ask them to stop.

Hook up a laptop or something to a sound system set an alarm for when your not home and blast your speakers. Then it will go off none stop till you get home.

yes...they were so nice...not..they stopped for a bout one day and went right back to the routine.

I bought a bigger sub for my surround sound, just for this. Room below me 2 years ago was the Football team for the college I went to. So they partied like all week long. I played this very often.
