1999 explorer limited
Hey guys,
I have been looking for a winter dd for a while now. I was mostly looking at older cherokees and explorers and I came across this: ford explorer limited I am going to check it out tomorrow. Is there anything in particular to look out for on these? I tried looking online but couldn't find anything specific besides rust and transmission problems. Is there a good way to really test an auto transmission? I have only driven manual. |

Also check all door handles inside and out. mine kept breaking once it got cold out. (plastic tabs inside door).
Definitely go take it up to highway speeds and all. The previous owner never touched the trans on my old explorer. trans went out at 150,000 miles.

I own this exact vehicle- year, model, and trim level. I paid 2500 for it... but it had 215,000 miles on it... I say if it's in decent condition, snap that sucker up. Explorers are awesome in the snow. I own two 99s, and so far they've been great winter beaters.

It looks like a good deal!
our 93 explorer had 250k on the trans before 2nd gear finally decided to go out, Its been a really really great car, I drove it for a few years and my boyfriend uses it for a work truck now. I paid $700 for mine in 2005, it needed a new head gasket, but everything else was in pristine condition, The interior was in perfect shape until my guy started using it as a work truck

I lieded- both our Explorers are SOHC V6 trucks, not the V8. Otherwise my wife's Limited is the same truck, though.

Alright. Everything checked out and I just got it back home. It had a little rust on the bottom inside of the rear doors but everything else was great. I will post more pics when its light out and I clean it up a bit. I look forward to actually being able to keep the mustang clean now.
