I've taught quite a few people how to drive a stick. What's has worked best for my "students" is finding a gravel road and making them use the clutch to make the car accelerate. Until they can get that down, they don't get to use the gas. Once they can make the car move forward without using the gas I introduce them to using the clutch and the gas at the same time. Works like a charm. Most important thing is patience. If you don't have a little patience you will always end up frustrated and angry. The reason I say gravel road is the fact that its easier on the car until you get used to releasing the clutch properly.

Also, like all the other homo's said; practice makes perfect.

Unless I'm gonna be auto-crossing, I'll stick with auto. I enjoy manual cars and all but I have those days where I hate it. Auto is ftw.
