Went to buy this studio

Instead came home with this standard vintage sunburst.

I don't know why, but I never got into Les Paul's. The one Gibson I'd want is the explorer.

Next on my list are-
The ESP FX series; there's a gorgeous one at the local guitar shop

And I really want an Ibanez ICT700-

It's just like my IC350 but with better pickups, and a set neck.

I love explorers. If only they weren't so expensive. Epiphone makes an explorer, but it's matte black... no thanks I like my explorers shiny.

Good shit man. I think we've all got some GAS (Guitar Addict Syndrome). I just picked up a new axe a few months ago that I can't get enough of. I'm looking to upgrade amps now.

I've got an ESP/LTD EX-351D with the diamond plate on it. It has a cool look and tone to it. I leave it in Drop C.

Love the Les Paul, the thicker bodies give some nice raw heavy tones

I really want a PRS guitar. Paul Reed Smith is coming to the Houston guitar center tomorrow with some guy named David Grissom. Never heard of him. Thought about checking it out but IDK, I might be busy helping install a kill switch in my friends old squire that he never uses since he got a fender strat.

i will concede however, that the floyd rose tremolo was nothing more than an adolescent fad that i wish i had never gotten into. and unfortunately, floyd roses and ESP M's seem to go hand in hand so my options are very limited unless i want to shell out the money for a custom. last time i had a quote on a VERY base model M custom, it came out to something like $3k

Yup, that other guitar you can barely see has a Floyd Rose. It's the reason I got it, but that Floyd is a bitch to tune, at least till the strings stretch. I used to leave it unlocked until yesterday when I tuned it and locked it, and it held tune surprisingly well for the first time ever while locked. I still had to make adjustments with the fine tuners.

This was an impulse buy, but I wanted it because:
1. I love Les Pauls
2. I can drop tune it unlike the Floyd rose equipped guitar I have.

Dont get me wrong, I love my Floyd guitar but I barely use the trem.

I'm using a line 6 spider 3. Got it as an upgrade over my voxx base amp which I gave away to my friend as a birthday present. It's not the greatest but it does for now. What I really want is a Marshall amp, or some sort of tube amp.

If you can afford $600-$1k somewhere down the road, go check out that Blackstar amp. Its a 5W Tube head unit, and is praised as one of the best studio amps. They're produced by some higher up techs that left Marshall.

I do like spiders for the amount of different effects you can add while playing with them.

Yeah Dave and PRS will be at the experience here in New York in a couple of weeks. I'd def go check it out if I were you. Dave's not the kind of guy you'd probably listen to, but you can learn A LOT from him. He's highly regarded in the PRS world. He's got some chops too.

There are plenty of strat like bodies that don't have Floyd's. Doesn't need to be an ESP, there are other great builders with great profile necks. I'd never pay 3k for an ESP, custom or not. I hate floyd's because they are a nightmare to string, tune and play. If you break a string on stage you are screwed lol. Schecter hellraisers without the FR are pretty good for the money.

Tremelo's are a bitch to tune, they need to be set up properly. If you change tunings or string gauges, it won't hold as well as a stop tail will. The trems change in tension and need to be set up properly. They are a lot of maintenance. On my PRS I rarely ever lose tuning using the tremelo system. I cahnged string guages and tuning, had it re set up. THe prs techs are going to do a free set up on it as well here in NY when they come to town. Its getting colder so it needs another set up.

forgot to mention, if you're looking for an amp know exactly what kind of tone you're after. Tube amps couldn't sound more different from one another. I like darker tones so I tend to enjoy 6L6 tubes more. Mesa Dual Rectifiers, Peavey 6505, Bogner Uberschall (i think?). I really LOVE the Diezel Herbert, but its $4,500 for the head alone and I think it has KT88's in it

i've broken a string on stage. it was the first time such a thing had ever happened and i was visibly embarassed lol. i've broken many strings but my first time breaking a string on a floyd was on stage and that's when i learned why floyd's suck. i use ernie ball's 7 string power slinky minus the .011 so when i lost a string, i lost a LOT of tension (i believe it was actually my .058 string that went). it took me about 30 seconds to realize my guitar was the reason why the song sounded like fuck-shit. i've since stuffed my guitar's bridge recesses with blocks of wood and totally locked out any possible tension from the trem. and that's another thing about locking trems... fucking harmonic resonance... the only sound coming from a guitar should be from the strings, not the bridge, and i shouldn't have to stuff foam into a guitar to block out those harmonics.

i just like the weight and overall feel of ESP's, but i recently picked up my buddy's jackson soloist and was very pleasantly surprised. it had a single piece string thru bridge (which i LOVE) and the same neck profile and scale as my M. i'm trying to get him to sell it to me, but no dice so far. only thing i don't like about it is the electronics (all of which would be swapped in favor of my single EMG81, volume potentiometer, and EMG's afterburner). what i just described there is my dream guitar. simple with no frills (other than the jackson's sweet camo paint job).

Try a Charvel San Dimas, you might really like it. You can swap the duncan out for an EMG if you wanted as well. Single pickup and the scale and neck is pretty sweet. I have small hands and long fingers. The thin neck on my les paul feels like a baseball bat to me haha. My ESP has an awesome thin neck with low action. I got my PRS with the pattern regular neck instead of the Pattern thin and it's still pretty thin. It feels like butter, and I usually don't like 25 scale necks. Im picky about my necks, but the les paul I wanted because it was a silver burst with split coil pickups
