? about rear main seal and leaks..

I recently paid over 350 bux to replace my rear seal. It was fine and just about a month later i changed my oil to synthetic. I have had car for 4 months and ran normal oil up until this point. Before i changed my oil there were no leaks. I change my oil to synthetic and my rear is leaking again

Now is the another rear main leak or because i switched to synthetic??

also i noticed oil on my front sway bar. I checked and it seems the front seal is wet also. And to an untrained eye, it seems my oil pan gasket is bad 2

This just sucks cause im going on a road trip soon and i GOTTA fix these leaks. Any ideas or advice would be great

Switching from regular dino oil to synthetic can clean up deposits throughout the motor that were plugging up leaks.

At least thats what I'm told.

It's definitely possible. Even synthetic and blends behave differently.

My Neon was doing great, a little bit of lifter chatter on startup below 20deg on the cheapest NAPA blend they sold. I decided to treat it right for once and give it some Mobil extended life synthetic, and now it chatters at higher temperatures, and for longer than it used to. It was a night and day difference after the oil change.

Moral of the story? If it works, don't change it.

The molecules of synthetic oil are much smaller than the molecules of dino oil. The smaller molecules of the synthetic oil are able to get past very small crevices, where the larger molecules of dino oil cannot.

But this does not mean that the synthetic oil has caused the leak, it simply has "discovered" an infant leak, and regardless of what oil you are running, this infant leak will eventually grow to a size that will allow dino oil to occupy and pass also.

Synthetic oil has not been shown to deteriorate engine seals or gaskets. It is not some evil solvent that will break down sealant, or anything like that.
