android battery life

I'm getting a new phone and want to try something becides iphone which is what I have.

I really want the galaxy s2, but I've read everyone loves the phone but the battery life sucks. I know its probably with most smartphones, but what smartphones do people have and hows the battery life? and I was reading about rooting, that would help battery life as well correct? along with changing battery setting to as needed and wallpaper brightness and etc. some of the custom layout from that recent thread were sweet!

not sure if this is "video games" since its kinda tech...

I have a 4s and I charge my phone once every two or three days ( this is with streaming emails - which is about 120/day and using the web a lot of on it ).

Hope that helps!

I have a Vibrant (Galaxy I). When I first got it it was charge every night, no exceptions. When I put the Bionix rom on it, that changed to every other day, three days on a charge under lighter use.

Really depends on how you use it, though. Big bright screens take a lot of juice to run, so if you're constantly looking at your phone (web, games, heavy texting, etc) you're just not going to get multiple days out of a battery.

i have a droid charge and if i stay off my phone like a normal person it will last all day no problem and then i just throw it in the charge dock at night sense it doubles as my alarm clock. under my normal heavy use i plug it in the car charger on my way to work to top it off and then charge it at work sometimes. not that it needs it but im just anal about having as much juice as possible. theres alot of things you can do to save battery life.

all smartphones have battery life issues. they are getting faster and faster every day with better screens bigger processors all that fun stuff. it takes power to run them. batteries have not caught up with the power demands unfortunatley. you can buy extended batteries for phones but most of the time they add horrible bulk to the phone.

I have the 4g LG Revolution and the battery life is decent. I can get a whole day out of it without any problems and thats a with a good amount of texting and checking facebook and MM a couple times as well as reading the occasional news article. The only phones I was warned about when I bought my phone at the verizon store were HTC phones the thunderbolt inparticular the lady said you would be lucky to get 8hrs out of the battery.

It does have pretty bad battery life. But I just charge mine at work and its fine. If I'm not around a place where i can charge it, it will normally last me all day but by the end of the day it is usually below 10% with minimal use throughout the day. Under heavy use, I'm lucky to get 5 hours.

With great power comes great battery drain...

Always let the phone die before recharging...

Mine doesn't last that long... I usually have to charge mine once a day. If I barely look at it I can get it to last 2 days. I'm not always playing games on it either.

I have a Samsung Charge and can usually make it through the whole day unless I'm using the phone like 24/7. Basically 4g and the big display rape the battery... It's gotten better since I put Gingerbread on it though.

I need to get an extended battery for it, brother got one for his Thunderbolt and can easily get 2 days out of it.

After rooting mine and under light usage conditions I still only get ten hours if I am lucky. Look into getting one of the new smart phones coming out, supposedly they will offer the same 4g performance with stronger battery life (generalized statement).

Droid x2 here... with light use I'll get a whole day out of it.
heavy use maybe like 8 hours.
I generally just charge it every night when I go to bed.
battery life kinda sucks on it with the massive screen and dual core processor.

I have the HTC inspire. the large bright screen is what eats my battery up. next would be the gps and WiFi. I have to charge mine every night even with gps and I turn off networks when I am not using them.

I use a rooted and overclocked nexus one. I get 8 hours of heavy heavy use and a day and a half of light use. It's lame, I want a Galaxy Nexus. I'm waiting to see if cyanogen can fit ics on here first though, then I may wait for the next Nexus after the Galaxy. This phone is still a powerhouse nearly 2 years in.

I have the i3gs right now and I do like it a lot, I just wanted to switch it up and gs2 would be the only other phone I'd get. still thinking, but thanks for the feedback everyone.

I would be mostly text and web with some email. I also charge it at night cause it's alarm also.

I have a droid pro and the battery life isn't the best. I check my phone alot, so that could be why. I usually have to charge twice a day, unless i'm at school and not on it all of the time.
