Yep, this is what happened with my ex. When we started dating she told me that she was divorced but never really told me how long ago that, just that she was over it and ready to move on. Yea... right... Come to find out it wasn't that long and she was just trying to quickly replace what she had lost. So, guess what happens? We were going great then all of a sudden shit got real, her repressed emotions started to come up from wherever she buried them. She started resenting her ex and taking it out on me... Yea, those were fun times.

I REFUSE to let a woman pay for anything. Even when my ex-fiancée and I had been together for a couple years, I still paid for roughly 60-70% of the things we did together.

No, this girl wouldn't pay for anything for a while. Though she just offered to take me skiing this December, so I might let her go half on that.

One thing thats always worked for me:

Do something fun and different that gets you guys to talk to each other! Dinner + Movie is too...same shit different date. Dinner is almost always a good start but after that theres so much you could do different.

Two best dates I ever had were:
1) Sushi then went to take pictures at the Eastern State Mental Hospital and look for ghosts.
2) Went downtown Christmas Eve and checked out all the stores displays, froze our asses walking around, popped into the pub and got Buttered Rums then met up with a few friends and went sledding at the park.

Awesome dates don't have to be extravagant, just fun.

Screw paying for everything... I used to do that when my GF and I first started dating, but now I'll gladly let her pay if she wants to (I still pay 75% of the time). But since tomorrow we will have been together for two years... screw all that manly stuff. She accepts me for the asshole i am and I accept her for the bitch she is. That's just how it works.

But in all honesty, just show her that you actually care, not so much in a relationship sense, but as a friend. Show interest in what she likes, show her that you're a dedicated fella. Show her the real you, so she doesn't get any surprises later on down the road. For me... I'm a bit of an asshole sometimes. I'm not going to hide that to impress a girl (not saying I would be a dick on a first date... but you get my point).
