That's BS.
I'd be willing to be that the V6s use the same drive shaft as the GTs. The person driving however is a dumbass for not letting off when they heard the very loud rumbling noise right before it happened.

2011 Mustang V6 dyno pull resulting in snapped driveshaft - YouTube It's a weak point on the car. It can't take spinning that fast apparently. I'm sure that there are lots of reasons Ford limited the car to 114 besides the driveshaft, but a modder needs to realize that there's more to going faster than the recommended tolerances of a car than making the engine more powerful.

- That, to me, says that Ford cheaped out on some components and knows that the cars can't handle the stress past that point and without beefing stuff up it's not a good idea. I still blame the driver for taking the car well pas the limit without thinking first though.

![]() Also, cars have a speed governor to conform to federal laws, among other things. The cars aren't designed for that speed.. several factors come into play here. Tire speed ratings, suspension limitations, wheelbase, weight, aerodynamics, driver inexperience, all combined, operating on our poorly designed/maintained roads make the car mechanically unsafe for those speeds, not because Ford cheaped out on certain parts. The last thing an auto manufacturer wants on their hands is a class action lawsuit because they cheaped out on crucial parts. And actually, the driveshaft is under the MOST stress upon takeoff. It's the initial torque required to start the vehicle rolling that stresses them the most. Clutch dumps are the worst. Also, if the driveshaft is grossly off balance, it's true that the vibrations could do more damage at higher speeds, but a balance issue that large would be noticeable even at low speeds.
