What can i do about anxiety attacks?

The drama in my family keeps on coming. Tonight we had Christmas here at my house so i didn't have to get my boys out in the cold. Turns out i didnt get anything for Christmas (no big deal... im used to not getting anything). But then when my mom and dad gave my sister the receipt showing they paid off her 700 credit card bill, and then gave my brother (the brother thats caused most of the drama in my family in the first place) a "receipt" showing how much they've spent on him this week of well over 5,000 dollars. He's 26, unemployed, and moving to Florida in 3 days... not a dollar to his name, and expecting mommy and daddy to take care of it.

Mom just lost her job, and my bro still expects them to pay his way. Im 21, and had to (not had to, but i've always told my folks i'd give them the shirt off my back if it would help them) give my folks 1,000 bucks cash tonight so that my brother could go pick up the u-haul Tuesday morning.

After my folks and brother left, my sister and her bf were still here and we started talking about how much im having to spend on my brother and how after Christmas is over im done with everything. When all of a sudden my heart "locked up" and i couldn't breath, my arms both went completely numb, i couldn't see, i couldn't breath, my body when completely white and im still pukey as hell.

For the past 5 years i've been getting real bad chest pains, they kind of feel like a screw driver going between my ribs and stabbing my heart. Every time i breath they get worse and worse. then they just stop. I always just passed it off as nothing, but then tonight it lasted like 10 minutes and i didnt even realize everyone in the room was talking to me, trying to get me to "snap back into it". they were fixing to pick me up and carry me to the car and take me to the hospital. But then i came back to and told them i was okay, and i just needed some water...

Bahumbug... hows everyone elses xmas eve going?!

Anxiety attacks are no joke. Try to chill out a bit. I've had anxiety issues for years. Just yesterday I almost fell I got so dizzy. I have a 14 year old daughter who usually contributes to my attacks. All you can do is relax and if you can't seem to control it talk to your doctor about xanax. It should get easier as you get older, as your "I don't give a fuck" recepters have time to mature. Don't sweat the small stuff man. Merry Christmas.

Take 2 of these and call me in the morning.

Your parents are fucked in the head. No offense.

Doesn't mean you are though. Knowledge is power, Dolbs. Which means don't be afraid to look at the truth of things, but try not to let those truths wind you up.

Thats the crazy thing, any more i just dont give a shit. I dont get pissed off about anything. i use to explode over anything. i've been noticing at work i get dizzy ALOT, i dont know if it has to do with this (prolly does). Its so hard telling my parents how it really is because my dad had a real bad heart attack, and i guess i've always blamed myself for it because when i was younger i was in and out of juvy and always in trouble and he always had to come save me.

After his heart attack i've felt that i need to help him with life to make it easier. i know its absolutely rediculous for me to feel this way. but i do. im trying to get over the feeling. I use to just go get high when i'd start feeling these feelings, but i've tried quitting that. (still have some for those times i cant figure anything else out) but those times havent come in a LONG time.

Zip, i really feel like just plowing the shit out of my wife tonight and hoping that helps. We're going to find out!

I don't know what the hell I had anxiety or panic. I was just laying in bed and it felt like the floor fell out from underneath me and I was freaked out for 20 minutes but I could not move. Eventually I just calmed down. I have had a couple episodes like that since, but nothing as serious feeling as the first.

as dumb as this may sound, it works. Run through the ABC's in your head. Pick something that starts with that particular letter. For example, you can do car manufactures... A: Atom, B: Bentley, C: Chevy etc... keeping going until you have calmed down. breath in from your nose and out through your mouth too.

I've been struggling with anxiety for a long time ever since I started college. I recently have just started getting help for it since this past fall. I now have a script for Xanax which really helps in those intense moments when stupid little mental shit like the ABC trick doesn't work haha. But, idk man, I think you should look into getting help with it. I put off getting help for way too long because I just thought it was "nothing" and I was embarrassed to tell anyone about it and the people I did tell, thought I was making a big deal out of nothing;they just don't understand.. But Anxiety can be really scary especially like yours when you lose total control of your body like that. Look into getting some help. your case seems pretty serious.

The only thing that I've found calms my anxiety is drinking a shit ton of water, takes a few days to kick in though. I usually drink 20 or so glasses a day.

Might be worth a shot.

Sorry your parents pay for everything for your brother and sister man. My girlfriend is so stressed out, she moved out of her parents house and moved in with her sister because her mom moved her aunt into their house. I had to go over to their house to pick up gifts to load them so we could take it to her sister house. The whole house is trashed, smells like smoke (The aunt is the only one who smokes). The aunt has her sons kids too. So theres My gfs stepdad, mom, aunt, and the 2 kids her aunts keeping, and my gfs brother. It's a 3 bedroom house. My gfs brother couldn't take it anymore and now stays at his gfs house. It's causing so much drama, and pain to everyone. And her mom keeps saying she can't kick her aunt out because they have no where to go. My gf got very little for christmas, she was promised a cheap laptop because they have no computer at their house, and instead her mom gave her aunt over $2000 worth of stuff, a place to live, plus the extra cost of having the 2 kids! The kids dad has a turbo civic that he dumps all his money into, but does NOTHING for his kids. I feel bad for her because shes sleeping on a couch, has no job but has to babysit and clean houses to pay for her gas and insurance to get back a forth to school. I mean, her mom is basically putting her aunt and the kids before her own family. Her step-dad isn't suppose to work because he has lupus, but he works to keep the family up. On top of they, her aunt caught the cabinets in the kitchen on fire the other day.

1. Stop paying for anything for any of them. Zip had it right. They are fucked up!
2. Go see a therapist.
3. No, it does not get easier as you get older. You only bottle this up more, and it comes out in bad ways... as your finding out.

Oh, and to answer your question, "What to do about Panic Attacks? Simple. Get away from the people that are causing the panic attacks

You need to talk to a good therapist.

Last night after some viscious sex with the wife, we were talking. and we decided that it was time for me to talk with someone about my problems. My mom said she has some xanax if i want to try those out. I think im going to try them, because i've got xmas with my family one more time today. Then i've got my inlaws xmas tonight. So i know that today is going to be a stress full day.

But i must admit, last night was some of the best sex i've had in a while.. my whole body is sore this morning from that work out! haha

Anxiety attack? You sure you weren't having a heart attack or a stroke? An anxiety attack makes you feel really awkward and makes you sweat...not what you described in your first post.

I'd be careful with this, man. Go talk to the doc about what you're goin through. And your parents are giving in too easy. The problem doesn't lie with your brother in this situation, but rather your parents.

I'm gunna go put a couple hundred rounds threw my SR9C and see if shooting helps relieve my mind...

I suffer from anxiety attacks and that doesn't sound like an anxiety attack, I would get to your doctor asap and get some tests ran.

I wouldn't really recommend xanax. I am sure some of you guys here can tell I have some anger issues, where I really can't control myself when I get mad. And once I started bartending it got worse. I am prescribed xanax, but I cannot take it and function throughout the day. It will knock you out.

I am currently on celexa, and it's much much better. It's a lot like prozac, zoloft, ect. Try talking to your doc about those.

Man i feel for ya buddy. I've had several people around me suffer from anxiety attacks. My brother one time was getting a haircut, and he got one. We laugh about it now, because the scenario was kinda goofy lol he left the haircut half done and drove to the hospital thinking he was having a heart attack. Turns out he is fine and he battled through it. This was around the time my mother was in the hospital (she died alittle bit after this incident). Anxiety attacks can be brought on by stress man. I even had a coworker that had them, and i helped him out, he never got them ever again.

Next time you feel that HORRIBLE feeling, say to yourself "kill me, i'm not afraid". Keep saying that in your head man it will get you over the fear and i bet you will never have the attacks again because you will overcome it. The mind is very strong bro, but don't let it get you crazy man. My life has been one hell of a shit storm, but i don't let anything really get to me. Try and shrug stuff off, and brush it off your shoulder. And DON'T hold in your emotions, if your mad, punch a fucking pillow or yell, if you're sad, then cry.

Another thing, NO CAFFEINE. Don't drink anything with it, i know it sucks, but trust me stop all caffeine.
