Thats the camera i want, i forget why i chose the Nikon over Canon...i believe it was zoom..not sure..

whenever i do get the D5100 I aim at getting 18-55 lens and then a 75-300 would be nice.

My D5100 came with the 18-55mm. Its pretty cool....but I want a macro lens and then probably a 75-200 as well. I LOVE BEING ABLE TO CHANGE LENSES!!!!!!!!!

I love taking close ups of things.
I think it pretty much comes down to which features you want...Canon has some stuff Nikon doesn't and vice versa. But there are different "levels" it seems. Nikon has the D3100 and D5100 and Canon has the Rebel series, I think T1i, T2i and T3i. But I'm not an expert so I couldn't tell you the major differences lol
