Hahaha..

When I was probably about 11, I took a 33.6K ISA modem out of an old computer, and put it into mine... it wouldn't auto install the driver (of course). I then spent several hours going through every single driver that Windows 98 had (didn't use a disk), trying to find one that worked. Finally, I found one. Somehow, the modem would connect at 115k every time.. my 56k modem would only connect at 32k or so.

LMAO, that was me.

BLOCKBUSTER FREE MONTH "___ HOURS" CD!!!

It was 1996 when I was in HS and we had a 28kb? modem, anyway slow as dirt. I would drive home during my lunch break in HS to START the download of some nudes someone sent me the night before (after they told me in class) so that by the time I got home from school they would be DL'd so my parents would get home after the DL finished.

luls, I remember my mother bought a 32mb hard drive, like 500kb ram computer for like $900 and we where all shitting bricks about how fast it was.

having a stack of disk's full of porn in my drawer. The sound of a disk being read, that "clicky" noise was practically a erection activator haha.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned how AOL discs used to EVERYWHERE and you'd get ten of them in the mail per day and they used to rain from the sky like the internet Gods were weeping.

Screw AOL. My first true experience was on CompuServe, with a 14.4k. I know my dad had Prodigy, but I'm not sure if it ever worked.

Don't know if anyone would possibly remember this but does anyone by chance remember avidgamers.com?

It was pretty much a free webhost way back when. Very very basic, all they gave you was a login system and wouldn't let you use any PHP on the site at all. It was ALL html. People thought your site was awesome if you had the <marquee></marquee> going on in the title, was even better when you had images doing it.

No mention of 5.5" floppy discs?

Or when the 100mB ZIP discs were considered huge. I remember having those and thinking I could put anything on there and never run out of space. Now I've realized that I've created power point presentations for work that wouldn't fit on a zip disc.

No, those were mini discs.

Zip discs were roughly the same size a 3.5 floppy discs but about twice as thick. Here's a zip disc:

I remember windows 95. The least buggy windows so far -___-

We had our Compaq with Win 95 FOREVER, the next one we had was Windows ME, and it's still sitting in my room. Use to play a game called Runescape on dial-up. And just thinking about this and the fact that I'm only 19 makes me wonder how fast the internet will be in 10 more years.

Are you thinking of IRC? That's still around, though it's much less popular now. You have to have a client (like mIRC or BitchX) then connect to a server and go into the various channels.

"Warez" is the generic term for pirated software, which was traded a lot on IRC.
