screen resolution issues

My parents bought me a 26" flatscreen for christmas. I hooked my laptop up to it via hdmi cable and everything is working great but im havin an issue with the screen being barely too big for the tv. I can see the top of the tskbar, so its really close, but nothing I've tried is working. I'm sure someone here can point me in the.right direction

FWIW my 32" native resolution 1366x768 tv never looked right using HDMI. I had to go the VGA route.

I could either go really small and not read the font, or too big and not see half the screen. In RGB mode, it let me pick 1366x768 just fine. In HDMI, when I picked 1366x768, my TV went blue and said (not supported)

Got any suggestions on a cable? Or will pretty much any of them work?

EDIT: I think I have a vga plug in on my laptop... but it doesn't have the screws on the side. Will one with screws still work?

Ok, thanks.

This would work right? Just want to verify that I need an HDMI to VGA cable before I order it.

are you using a Nvidia graphics cars? if so, right click on the desktop and there should be a option for nvidia. in the some where, you can manually set a screen size by dragging the edges to fit your screen. thats how i got it to work on my 22" flat screen

huh? No, my tv had a RGB/VGA plug into it. It might work. I would not pay huge dollars for it though. What is the model number of the tv?

Model number is LC260SS2

It don't see a VGA plug-in on the tv, so i might have to go the vga-hdmi route.

Yep looks like it. Your native resolution is WXGA (1366 x 768) jut like my old TV. Hope you can get it to work but I think the HDMI plug is what changes the settings and not sure if the rgb/vga to hdmi plug will really help.

Well, the cables are cheap so I'll give it a shot. Thanks gonzo!

I was on /b/ and some one posted a pic from the same artist and I knew I recognized it from somewhere. So I did the drag and drop google image search and the book popped up.

Looking back, why was that book even in school?
