My Recent Adventure

Im stuck in idaho... Been gone for a few days now, barely able to browse. 3G internet connection isn't real good in Montana and idaho where I have been.

Trailer was full coming up total truck and trailer weight was 18,820 lbs... now with it empty (moving my buddy to Butte MT for school), the wind pushes it around everywhere.

On the way we saw 20 semis on the side on I80 in wyoming. And now there are all kinds of wind warnings, so we are going to play it out here in Pocatello idaho before I have to buy a new trailer from going on its side...

Butte MT is beautiful, but towing the trailer in 5 inches of snow isnt fun...

Also had one trailer tire blow out... Got real lucky it was 1 mile from the town we were going to fill up at and just towed slow into town. Had a new tire put on the blow out rim and saved the spare. If it had been anywhere else, it would have 30-40 miles to the nearest town... There aint nobody up here.

Here is a picture just for grins...

Even with the weight without the wind we got 12.3 MPG. In the Direct head wind in wyoming, where we were flat to the boards in 2nd gear making 18lbs of boost doing about 35 mph on I80 we got like 8 MPG. First fill up was in Dillon MT from Denver Colorado 834 miles later... Not too bad there ( i love my transfer tank). Transmission got a new tranny cooler before the trip, and with all the weight we are pulling and the wind and everything we never got over 165 degree tranny temps, and were as low as 130 at times. Very pleased with that!

Anyway figured I would share

You need to put some of those airbag helper springs in the rear to level the truck back out when the trailer is hooked up.

The fact that everything Mikey owned was in the trailer on the tongue didn't help it at all. Empty going over the scales it was showing 11,890 lbs and we have about 35 more gallons of fuel.

Empty the truck doesn't even drop an inch when hooked up. I like about an inch to 2 inches of squat to stabilize the tow, but with all of Mikey's crap it had a lot of weight in it.

Matt is that thing tuned? If you are still on the nation or the army, Pocket (Curtis) tunes those and he is pretty damn good. I ran his tunes on my old truck with good results. It's nice to have a custom tuner a few miles away.

9 tons isn't too bad for my little old poor truck...

No tunes in it. I have a chip with tonys tunes but I don't like it, because the thing blows smoke everywhere and gets shitty mileage. Prolly should sell it. Curtis is just south of me a little ways.

Don't sell it. Pm me if you want Curtis's number. Bring the chip by to him and he will send it to bill at php and have it reformatted. His tunes are good man. Shifting was great, low smoke and I got 17 to 19 out of my ccsb.

I don't think he would even charge you. Or if he did, it would be cheap.

its an old Van Aaken chip 4 position chip, its not even a TS chip. I never use it because of the smoke and no extra gain in mileage.

Power on this truck is just fine... It has a custom built electric Fuel System I built, and I have all the intercooler parts for it basically. Eventually it will get a new set of injectors, but I only have 117K miles on the truck. Ive put exactly 19,984 miles on it sense I bought it it a year and a half ago... Not too shabby for a college kid.
