New 5.0

Sorry. I dont know if this is worth a whole thread or not. especially when its about a diff stang than ours. But after leaving a club out here in northern jersey last night, I was violently embarrassed by a new 5.0. wow, wow frickety wow. those things are rockets. seriously making me consider not even trying with the 4.6. the way it took off on me had me convinced unless I have a ton of $ in the motor or I boost it, these newer cars are way outta my league. Some1 make me feel better!

lmao that'll do it. i sed to be into hondas so I kno them very well. theyre not bad little cars when turbo. but maybe ill take ur advice lol

boost it and you will feel better if you race a stock one and beat him and realizing he paid over 30 grand for that car that may make you feel better.

Getting beat by a faster car shouldn't really be embarassing but it should be expected. They have 150+ more horsepower than you. I've not see a dyno for them but with the larger 3.63" piston I suspect that they have a significantly more low end torque as well.

Most likely, also because they're higher revving than previous 'Stangs.

99-04 Gt has crank rated to 260hp and 302 tq

2011 gt 426hp at the wheels is what I've seen on a few dynos
And 400+ lbs of torque

That's 126 more hp
And 100+ more tq in a car that weighs about the same

And our torque doesn't come intil around 3500rpm a/t atleast

Ad there's is at 2500

Correct me if I'm wrong I know some of that info may be a little off as I'm goin through my head and not the Internet

11-12 weight 3483

99-04 hp 260@5250rpm 302tq@4000rpm
11-12 hp 412@6500rpm 390tq@4250rpm

I havent seen a stock 11-12gt 5.0 at 426rwhp stock.

dave got my point. i kno dude spent much more than I did. but when the average v6 car in production 2day has close to or MORE hp then our cars, i feel like throwin my hands up. i never will, but to see accords, camry's, altimas ect whose v6 cars would probably beat a stock gt like ours is frustrating. and I def expected an ass whippin but to see how bad and quickly he pulled away AND it was an automatic is also disappointing. shit the new dodge caravan has as much hp as a mach1!! lol i love my new edge, but damn manfacturers make it hard to not want to put my beloved gt to rest and get a new 5.0

I read an article where k&n ran a new 5.0 on their dyno and it made more a chunk more than quoted from the factory.

(A run on the dyno at K&N Air Filters in Riverside, CA, suggests actual output to be around 435 horsepower and 404 pound-feet.)
