Today Everything That Could Had Gone Wrong...did

My adventure started last friday when I decided to do a 180 on a tight parking lot, which caused me to hit my rear wheel against a curb and bend the axle.

Well today I finally got a morning off to try and fix this so my dad picked me up, we moved the car to an empty parking lot to work on it and we began.
I took off the brakes, differential cover, and when I went to take off the bolt that holds the pin that prevents the axle from being pushed in, voila it breaks, leaving half the bolt inside the differential.

I wanted to kill my self, but luckily my dad held his calm got a kit used for pulling broken bolts, and got it out within an hour.
Finally we got the differential out, and when we went to put in the new one we realized it was too short. I accidentally got the non-abs one from advance auto parts. Since it was getting late and we needed to move the car back to our place we just put it in without the abs, and when we attempted to put in the brakes the brake piston would not for the love of god push in. then we realized that because the axle was shorter the brake disk would not sit correctly, so we put some washers on the studs to hold the disk in place so we could put in the brake pads and caliper.
finally all in, but the studs were now too short that we could not tighten the wheel. so as of now my car is in a random parking lot with no wheel and the wrong axle.

Cliffs notes:
-tried to replace axle
-broke a bolt inside the differential
-when installing new axle, found out it was the wrong model.
-I left my car stranded in some random parking lot
-new axle is coming in this monday, but im supposed to be in gainesville by monday for school.

Shit happens man. It sucks, but it isn't the end of the world. At least you know what to do when you get the right parts together.

Do you go to University of Florida?

lol oh shit, that sucks.
I mean if it wasn't because I have to drive it 350 miles on Sunday, and as it sits now it has the wrong axle in, then yeah just another day working on cars and I wouldn't be as stressed.

It looks like the new axle will be coming on either tomorrow or monday, so I may have to miss the first day of school.

4 new tires, exhaust leak, bad control arm, thermostat bad, oil change, rear brakes, and a couple other minor things.

85% of the time those stupid bolts break. i absolutly hate working on rearends because of that. I had one break on a jeep one day and it took a week to get another one in from the dealer.

A month after I got my GT, I nailed a curb in the rain. Did the exact same thing, bent my axle. I was barely 16 and hadn't done any real wrenching yet so I just had to pay for the stealerships to fix it. By the time it was all said and done, $2100 out of my pocket. Lesson learned.

Mustang + Rain + roundabouts + no experience with horsepower = no bueno

Hope you get it fixed bud
