Snowboarders I Need Your Help

So after going 2 times so far this year and adding it up to what I did last year in terms of trip ive decided it just makes more sense to get my own board. I am completely clueless on what brand puts out the best boards/bindings/boots etc. and have no clue where to start. I'm looking for a 157-158cm board. When I go I spend about 65/35% of my time on terrain park/trails. Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated and I will give some reps

maybe cookies too

+1... I went cheap once when I was between Burton's. Big mistake. Forum Bindings and a "Limited" snowboard. Big mistake. The bindings were trash in two seasons and the board is just not great. It does nothing well. It also doesn't hold an edge for long.

Burton Monkeywrench in 157 with Malavita Bindings will be my next setup.

Good decision to get your own board. I too spend most of my time in the terrain park. I would suggest a board that's built specifically for terrain, and then pick one thats the most flexible out of those boards, followed by personal looks or graphics of the board. My 2 top picks would be Burton and Ride. I have a Ride Agenda 156 and its kinda an all-round board as far as terrain vs trails, but it works for me.

Bindings IMO are the most important part of your setup. I use Burton Customs, I got them for I believe $150. They have lasted me 5 seasons and never had a problem, whereas my board and boots are almost done.

Boots, I personally don't care about boots. I would never spend over $100 on them. I got Burton boots from Dicks for like $80. They are destroyed, but I still use them and they thankfully don't hurt my feet.

If you can find a ski swap, thats where I got my board and bindings brand new for cheap. Companies sell "outdated" gear at them, which just means they came out a few seasons ago.

I honestly don't know much about boards or bindings outside of what I use, but the people at the shops should be able to show you what brands and models are best for terrain, then its all about how much your willing to spend. Keep in mind I spent a medium amount of money on my setup 5 years ago, and I go snowboarding about 3-6 times a week

neversummer is an awsome brand (and they are made right down the road from me). i have an M3 board, Ride bindings, and DC boots and i like mine alot too. burton is WAY too overpriced IMO.

EDIT: i was in breckenridge a couple weeks ago, and was looking at Arbor snowboards too. they look pretty sweet, and have some cool graphics. also Ride is another one that alot of my friends like. if i were to go buy one right now though, it would be a Neversummer for sure.

+1 for all the burton recommendations. I have 7 boards at home and they are all burton boards. They are a little pricier than most boards, but you get a lot for that extra bit of money. If you want a nice responsive board that will last a long time then look at burtons. If this is your first board dont be shy of buying a good used condition board or setup. There are some great deals on used equipment out there from kids/people that are gear queers ( go out and buy brand new everything when they start a new activity ) and decide after using it a couple times they dont like it.

I have a Sims Nexus 157cm with Sims bindings that I got right before I moved from Washington state. I only got to ride it twice but I was reasonably happy with it, especially for what I paid...However I don't know about the quality as I am now living in Texas. So it lives in my closet

Does it piss anyone else off when someone runs over your board?? First time I rode my new one, some jackass skier comes flying past the lift lines and right across the tail of my board. And there was assloads of room to go around me scratched the fuck out of the top of it and pissed me off

+1. I love my Ride Fleetwood. I have big feet and with boots, I couldn't stop my toes from digging in when I cut hard on a rented Burton. The Fleetwood is wide enough to stop that (it's also a 161cm )

I hate that too. Thats why I have a junk board that I take to the bullshit parks so I dont drown someone in slush for banging up my board. Glad I do cause that board is beat to shit with the topsheet peeling up on both tips ( from skiiers running it over ).

This is my favorite board I've ever ridden.

Lib Tech Attack Banana EC2 BTX Power Banana Snowboard - Snowboard Shop > Snowboards > Men's Snowboards

But I have a K2 Wide right now that I don't have many complaints about

I was rocking the k2 board and bindings but when me and my ex split she decides it would be a great idea to take it and sell it for $10
So now i have to buy new stuff when i get out of physio and i will be choosing Burton this time around forsure.

For a soft boot set up like you're looking for seriously consider Flow bindings - zero pressure points and amazingly easy in and out - no sitting on your butt at the top of every chairlift.

... or you could try a raceboard and join us in an adrenalin rush...
