Egg Drop! Help me with my physics again.

So, you guys were a lot of help on the timer project that i had to do. Maybe you'll be more help on this one!

i have to build a device to suspend an egg in that is no bigger then 12inx12in. The egg has to be visable, and i'm not sure if there are any other restrictions besides that (i'll check and inform later) If anyone has any idea at all, reps shall be given

take a box, weave the box with rubberbands, place egg in middle in a basket of rubberbands, drop it, wont break, thats what we did in high school

Also, do you have to use an egg they provide or can you use one from home? If you can bring your own, hard boil it first.

lol, we had a guy try that in high school, the teacher caught on cause he kept dropping his egg over and over again and it would never break, gave him an F

Insert egg into the butt, insert glass piece so egg is visible, jump onto ground butt first, shit glass and the uncracked egg. It's what I'd do.

My sister is a Chemical Engineer, and when she was in school, she had to do the same thing. She suspended the egg in a nylon stocking(cheap knee high type), then filled the box with grape jelly.(yes jelly). She won the contest and her egg survived numerous drops.

eta: just read it has to be visible. Use plain gelatin instead of jelly. It would be clear enough so egg would be visible.

What about using a hot glue gun to make several thin strands of glue going from one end of the structure to the other, with the egg being held sort of in the middle of the strands....kind of like a bug in a spider web....if it fails, it'll still look cool as hell

Edit: to do it use a nonstick (laughing because you'll be using glue...whatev) surface...maybe waxpaper or a skillet. start making lines of glue on the surface and place the egg in the center...again, like a bug in a spider web. then, peel the whole thing off. it'll help to start the project

Do something, then make a parachute like structure to help it. You can use paper for the chute, it works. Trust me. Did an egg drop last year and the chute helped me alot.
