24 hour notice?
Doesn't apartment management have to give you 24 hours notice, specifically, when someone is going to come into your apartment to "Fix" something? A few weeks ago they posted a paper by the outside door (not our door) that said "Sometime in January someone will be in your apartment to install new cable." and that's it... Well here it is the 24th and they come knocking on our door today, wake us up and almost just walk right in. Is that in violation of lease agreement?

I don't know if its different from state to state, but yes in WI 24hr notice is given.

in my old apartment, the maintenance guys walked in my room and had to wake me up by BANGING on the wall above my head... the other time was when i just got out of the shower and they walked in, thankfully i had a towel on... deaf problems

I believe you need a 24 hour notice in MD also. Either that or the appartment my dad lived in years ago was actually polite and gave you a 24 hour notice.
Go ask for a copy of your contract and read through it. Or ask nameless.

Here its 24h notice unless its an emergency.
My last apartment they would post what days they need to come in and around what time on the front door if it was for the whole apartment.

yes, in Iowa you are supposed to be given at least 24 hrs.
Talk to them immediately so they don't pull that BS on you again. Maybe get half month rent knocked off for their behavior. It's not just the polite thing for them to do, it's the law. I found the Iowa law and it would appear that they are in violation. Good. I was looking for a way out of our lease should we find a house early. These assholes are talking about how they are going to try and cut peoples chains when they won't let them in.

Depends on the laws of your state. Your lease contract cannot trump the law. No contract can for that matter. That's that the law is upheld. Call an attorney and ask them, Or find a website that has the laws(or both). Then check your rental contract.

My dad is a landlord here in Iowa and he too is required to give atleast 24hrs notice before entering any of the complex's

Not that it matters, but California requires 24 hour notice to enter the home, but not to be on the property. So if you're renting a house, the landlord can just show up and do stuff in the yard, they just can't enter the house.

I wouldn't have a problem with yard work but someone here said the guy just walked in while he was buck ass naked in the shower. What if he just walked in on your wife/daughter as she was naked walking through the house...that's some serious BS in my book! This isn't China, hell even the cops can't just walk into your shit.

Depends - if there is any emergency (to person or property) they can enter immediately - at least all my old leases said something like that.
In the past if they ever gave a 'range of dates' such as the 'week of' that was notice enough. Like they would come through and do sweep of the apartments checking smoking detectors, and for water damage. They never knew when they would be there exactly so they would give a range of dates. Which sucked nard as I had pets (dogs/bird), and never trusted the neanderthals working there to let them out the door, or mess with them. I always told my management that since I have pets, that I must be present in the apartment for maintenance calls. No more show-up-when-we-want BS.

I am an apartment maintenance tech.
If I get a work order, I ring the door bell, count to 30, knock on the door, wait another 30 seconds. If no one comes to the door and the work order says "Okay to enter: Yes" I get the key from the office and ring/knock again before I enter the apartment. If I get a work order that says "Okay to enter: No" I move on to the next, or find a vacant apartment to wast time in
