To people that have driven both a Mechanical and Hydraulic clutch:
With my Mach 1 and heavy ass clutch that I absolutely loved but everyone else hated, I could daily drive it perfectly even with the massive amounts of play in the back of the transmission and I could launch it just fine as well. (I say back of the transmission because if I had the driveshaft dropped from the rear end, I could easily get a 1/4 turn out of it until the transmission finally lost play.), but it seems as if this extremely light hydraulic clutch is a bit more tricky when normally accelerating from a dead stop. It's not a bad take off and there's no clutch rattle or anything stupid like too many RPMs or something like that, but I feel as if 33% of the time I always get that little 'umph' at the end when the clutch fully engages. It's not anything major and a lot of people that ride with me say that I'm one of the most fluent clutch drivers that they've ridden with, but it's just enough to annoy me. Anyone else have little difficulties going from a mechanical clutch to a hydraulic clutch?

I have trouble for about 5-10minutes then I get used to it and have no problems. Then I get back in my car and suddenly the clutch feels like I'm leg lifting 500lbs.

I didn't have any trouble making the switch. The cable clutches I drove were all little 4 bangers though.

Well my old clutch was a real clutch. Tire King and Ford Dealership employees would comment about it instantly. This new clutch is SOOOOO light. It feels as if it has a lot more travel in it as well.

Have both cars. No problems with either. If I drive the Mach for a period of time. My leg gets tired.

It was a bit tricky for me because I was used to driving a mechanical clutch with a spec stag 2 + before my S197... Talk about world of difference. After a few weeks it was fine though.

Other than getting my left leg used to the extra force, I've never had much trouble switching back and forth. It just takes a little getting used to.

It's DEFINATELY less aggressive. It wasn't a straight up racing clutch because it had decent travel, but it grabbed pretty damn hard and I learned to drive a clutch with it as well. Lol

I learned to drive a clutch on the stang, when I got my escort it was the first hydraulic clutch I'd ever driven and I thought for the longest time something was broken.

Cable > Hydraulic.
Thats the only thing id want to change on the '08. I love the feel of the cable, you can feel the grabbing point better imo. I've drive/driven a few hydraulic ones and hate how loose and soft they feel. I LOVE the cable clutch on my '96 and i dont mind the hydraulic on the '08. Everything else ive driven in hydraulic feels like a feather and i cant stand it. |

If it were a racing car only, I'd rather have a mechanical clutch. Easier to adjust and fix. Also a lot better feel when the clutch is being engaged/disengaged. However, on a DD I want a hydo clutch.

On my 01 i had a spec stage 2+ and thought it was normal as far as pressure went. I had no problem with it. Then i drove my buddies GT/CS and killed it because i wasnt used to the hydraulic clutch. after a couple stop signs i was pretty much used to it though.

Everyone tells me that the clutch in my Mustang is too hard to press. Even my dad does, and his daily driver is a Kenworth.
But I've been driving it for 5 years now, and I don't really notice it anymore, even in heavy traffic. When I get in a vehicle with a hydraulic clutch, it's hard to "feel" the clutch. You might know what I mean, but let me explain. With a mechanical clutch, as you lift your foot, you can actually feel the clutch engaging with your foot, and you can feel the difference all the way until the pedal is all the way up and the clutch is fully engaged. With a hydraulic clutch, you can't feel any of that in your foot. You can tell it's engaging because the car starts to move and the engine lugs down, but that's it. For me, that's my biggest pet peeve about hydraulic clutches.

I hate how light my centerforce feels in my camaro. I got used to driving the Mustang and I honestly like cable so much more now. The biggest reason is the same as most others, I can actually feel the clutch engage/disengage. In the camaro or my mom's shelby its just mush, i hate it.

I had that issue when I bought my jeep, but now that I've gotten use to it, it's not so bad. But when I start up my mustang every couple days it feels like i'm about to shit my pants pushing in the clutch
