It actually made us a lot stronger. It will really try your trust for each other though. It wasn't easy but well worth it. Just don't smother her and never accuse her of anything without legit solid evidence. Send her flowers every so often and sweet lil things. It will all work out how it's supposed to.

We were apart for Christmas break because she went to SD to see her folks, and at first we didn't know how that was going to work out but it went ok. Just going 5 months scares me. I knew guys in the Navy and 2 weeks into their first deployment they were getting divorce papers.

me and lady friend moved in together after only dating 4 months, I have no idea what I was thinking, but somehow it all worked out and have been together for nearly 2 years now. If you and your girlfriend have strong feelings for each other then you two should be fine.

Ya. Deployments are really difficult. You have to be capable of going through a lot of emotions alone. Like feeling like the person you love died or could be dead feeling mad he isn't there being sad and resentful of the situation. You can't call them when you want or see them or hear their voice. It's all dependant on what they are doing. Its so hard. I set an alarm on my phone to tell me when 101 signed in to his email. I was up all night. He would get me up at 2 and keep me up till 5 then get me up at 7 and keep me up till 10 and I had work at 11. It's the most challenging thing I've ever gone through and I was a wreck.

That being said college wi be easier and harder. You will be able to talk any time but you will have to fight not to. You have to worry is she drinking or hitting on other guys all that college stigma but remember if she does something wrong you will find out. No need to look for something and dig till u find it. Take this time to see how your personalities fit without the physical touch and appearance. If you make it it will be so worth it and if not well at least you realized that a little faster then you would have without that experience.

sorry for your troubles. It's not cool being apart from the person you love. I used a lot of weekend, anytime minutes when i had to spend time away from a girl I was with.
