Thumbs down

Drive

I'm watching Drive, and it's amazing. I've wanted to see this film since I first saw the trailer for it with that fun chase seen with our beloved 5.0 mustang, and I missed it in the theaters...

Ultra violence, man, is what this picture is all about. Great score, beautiful cinematography. It feels like a Michael Mann movie, like Collateral or maybe Miami Vice. I completely dig this film.

Two thumbs up! Or in someone's eyes, I think is more appropriate.

There was a thread on here a while back ( Movie Review - DRIVE! ) and people didnt have much good to say, to the point I almost didnt watch it. But I was bored on a rainy evening so I sat down and watched it. I thought it was pretty decent and enjoyed it as well. Just goes to show the saying "different strokes for different folks" is definitely true.

The movie was filled with modded cars (400hp impala from the beginning, the driver's own Malibu, the GTO in the shop), it's not completely beyond the bounds of logic to imagine a scenario where that 300 had some work done to it, especially if it was known to be used in a situation where it would be chasing down another car.

Just bought the Blu ray watching it now. DON'T BUY THIS MOVIE. WASTE OF FUCKING MONEY!

It reminds me of ' a history of violence' great trailer. Bought it, no dialog and shitty movie. Only plus was there's was random fucking going on.

History of Violence is one of my favorite movies of all time. I think you're thrown off by the brooding pace of the movies. Neither are action movies. at. all. Both, coincidentally, are dramatic pieces about the effects of violence.

I actively avoided Drive because I thought it was an action movie from the trailer, but was very pleasantly surprised by the amazing art it actually was. It's very similar to the director's other work, Bronson. Also a violent movie, but the violence is an afterthought to the performances and cinematography and unconventional storyline.

I could see why someone might think it's a bit pretentious though. Lots of staring and little dialogue make people think that they are being pandered to sometimes. I find that it's a staple of nuveau-vague existentialist cinema, which this movie is certainly aping.

Idc it still looked funny. Just like when an old car that looks like a POS beats a new car that comes stock with a lot of hp. Impressive, and funny because it's not what you would expect

As for the movie.. I think it woudve been better without those 5-10 min scenes of his facial expression while driving the car, but I guess some would consider it dramatic or whatever.. Definitely not my favorite movie but it wasn't terrible
