Careers
Just wondering if theres any Law Enforcent Officers at MM? I'm in college now working on getting into LE.
If anyone else wants to say alil something about their career and/or how they decided to get there, could use the expertise.. Still deciding on what to do with my life while spending $10k a year in school

We have a few LEOs around here who have given me some great advice. Personally I think I'm going to skip college and go straight to Police Academy or the Sheriff's Association. A degree isn't required, but some departments will want you to have at least a 2 year degree. After I get my career rolling, I may do online classes to get a degree. So before you decide if you want to stick with college or jump into academy, you might want to do a little research on departments you're planning on applying to and see what their requirements are.

Be careful with skipping the degree. You'll get to gainful employment potentially faster, but if there's a glut of applicants a degree is a very easy and justifiable line to thin the crowd, preventing you from getting the job in the first place. It also can affect your promotability once you have the job.

Well my father is a deputy, my uncle and cousin are both deputies, my great uncle is an ex sheriff, and my future father-in-law in head of the state police baracks. So needless to say its in my blood. I'm hoping to land a job with my hometown sheriffs office where all my family has been. Im not thinking of dropping out, but im not 100% set of LE. Only because LE has such a low salary and i would like to be able to feed my stang addiction while supporting my family. Just looking on some advice on how people landed their jobs, or how they even got to the job. Some people are forced into jobs, some have picked one out since they were little and worked to get there, and some just happen to fall into one.
Dont know, im just a confused college student..
