Auto auctions are a good start and a lot of patients.

My bad. I didn't realize what model year you were looking for. Around here, Fox body cars go for more than 98's. I've seen relatively low mile 99 GT's for under $3000. The problem with an Indiana car is that the state believes in pouring salt over every square inch of the fucking road for 3 months. That can lead to a lot of rusted out Mustangs.

Don't feel bad, Michigan does the same thing......that's why my car stays in the garage for 4 months of the year! Oh yeah.....I found mine on Craigslist.

Thats only because around here people start driving 10 under when it is barely sprinkling. When it does actually snow you would think they just got their license that morning.

I spent 5 months looking for my '96. I wanted a GT, i wanted it to be black or dark green, had to be a 5 speed, under 200k kilometers. Picked it up in a city next to me.

Why go to a new edge? Do a pi swap and you'll pick up a few more horses then a new edge.

I picked mine up from a place called the Trading Post. Not sure if they're around everywhere but locally there's atleast 4 or 5 of these car lot's. They usually have tons of mustangs for a decent price

Carmax aswell, but they tend to be a bit overpriced. They will give you a quote on your car aswell and buy it on the spot.

Craigslist is definately the way to go. Just have to have patience and be ready to strike when you see something. In my experience the good condition cheap ones only last a day or two

Gotta be patient. When I'm looking for a car I always check; Forums related specifically to the car I'm looking for, Autotrader, Cars.com, craigslist, Ebay, my local newspaper, a popular bigger cities newspaper and if I'm still having trouble I will call a few people that I know buy/sell car's often. Also my local car forum. It took me 6 months to decide on my old S197 and 11 months to find my WRX before that. It took me about 2 months to find my pickup.
