all negative comments aside,

i think this would be crazy lol, and a perfect chance to break in the gopro i'll have by then, it'd prolly be in a grass field, so i'm thinking an older truck that still runs of cl for a couple hundred?

take out all glass and airbags, good to go? helmet recommended but not required!

what are the build rules? the hits that hurt the most are the ones you dont see coming, and the adrenaline rush is great! and remember to steer with the palm of your hand, ive seen people break their thumbs by grabbing the wheel. oh, and your main target will be the rear wheels so you break your opponents axle. and what i think is most important, DONT go out there with intentions to win, go out there to have fun an make the crowd stand on their feet and put on a show!

i had my car built pretty good. replaced all body bolts, 14 ply forklift tires, cage etc...

this is after the first derby, i made it to the finals but ended up getting stuck. so the car had minimal damage.

heres the after pics of the second derby, this one was pretty nuts because the track was dry so there were alot of hard hits. i got full tracked by a built crown vic and my whole body came off the seat and flew up into the roof causing me to black out for a second or two, some other kid broke his arm, and another guy broke 3 ribs.

the frame looked like spaghetti when it was done lol

the green car on the far left had about 2 grand into the motor

believe it or not, the car still moved but the drive shaft was hitting the tunnel and the frame was about 3 inches from scraping the ground

by rules i mean build rules. is it just a chain the doors and go derby? the derby i was in was an 80s and newer. no welding on the frame, no frame reinforcement allowed, suspension must be stock etc... whereas some places allow reinforcing and welding everything solid

torch a hole in the door and wrap the chain through it and around the B pillar. if rules allow i would deffinately weld the doors shut though. check out wecrash.com, its a derby forum thats got alot of good info

not cheap, thats why i borrowed my friends welder lol but you may be able to find a used one for a decent price

Depends what kind and what quality you want. Do you have experience welding? What do you prefer?

Personally myself i found MIG welding to be the easiest to learn on. As long as you keep a steady hand, use enough oxygen and have patience its not difficult to learn at all.
