May switch to truck....

So ill be moving out in October of this year when I turn 18 due to parental issues.
Ill be moving in with my gf and theres a good chance with my car being under my stepdads name that he wont want to sign it over. He mentioned when I ca afford it alone hell sign it over.
anyways Im on a fence, the idea of getting a late 90s f150 has bounced in my head more than once. Ive found many 5.4s for less than 5k in good condition and the utility benefit would help, yet I have a spot in my heart for mustangs.
Any comments?
ill prob spend the next 10months saving the majority of my $ for my new vehicle.

Buy a beater as save cash. Your 18. Don't drown yourself in debt. I learned the hard way.

I'd look for a mid 90's inline 6 cl F150 if I were you, decent on gas and reliable. Mine had almost 200k on it when I sold it for an F250

If you have any reason to buy a truck, then get one. Meaning the need to ever pull a trailer or haul something in the bed. I don't see how 90% of people live without owning something that can atleast tow a trailer. It's nice having a Mustang but it would be gone way before my truck, if I ever got in a financial bind. I would say that even if I didn't have a wife and kids. If you do get a pre 97 F150, then go with the 302 at the least. My neighbor had a 96 with the 300 Inline 6 and it was reliable but had the gas mileage of a v8 but less power.

If mine was 4x4 I would have still had it, I sold it for a 5.8 F250 that blew through gas, but since I was in high school I didnt drive much. When I looked at college life / commuting to work and stuff it wouldn't work so I got my current mustang. Paid under $4000 for it and it's reliable and good on gas.

If you're like most college students just get something that goes

How many miles on it? Body condition? Been well maintained? 4x4? Cab size? There's a lot of shit that goes into determining a decent price for a truck. Personally I'd go for an OBS with a 5.0 or inline 6. Those inline 6s are tough motors and the 5.0s are cheap at far as parts go.

Mainly using that as an example. A lot of people looking to trade trucks for mustangs. Only ford truck id own would be a lighting. Like Chevy trucks better.

" this is a built Chevy tought. Wait a minute, this is a fuck ford" ha quote from mischief DVDs. Laugh every time.

The good thing about the F150's is they share the motor's with Mustangs. So yea, they have a great after market!
