I thought our cars had some sort of anti-siphon mechanism in the neck...

your going to have to drop the tank to replace the pump, just stick the other pumps hose in the hole in the tank once you have it dropped and opened up.

Go find a crackhead. Not only will he tell you how to do it, he will have it done in 30 seconds.

But honestly, I have no clue on a new edge. I have never tried... But I do believe there is a safety flap in the filler neck.

The mustang has several anti-siphoning systems in place, some deliberate, and some just as a by-product of their returnless system design.

The first plunger prevents
fuel from draining back into the tank once the pumps have shut off keeping the
line primed. This valve also provides the full vacuum generated on the fuel
delivery line during the vacuum test to assess siphoning. The second plunger
appears to function as an overflow valve such that, if the fuel pressure in the line
exceeds that required by the engine, fuel is diverted back into the tank. This
valve assembly would prevent siphoning.

Get under the car, disconnect the fuel line at the filter, and key it on. So long as the fuel pump works at all, it'll drain the tank.

Just, you know, be enviromentally conscious about it. Catch in a bucket, or if you are gonna just dump it on the ground at least light it on fire so it doesn't soak into the groundwater.
