Well the place is pretty shady. It's behind a sketchy Mexican restaurant and doesn't have power, light or heat. Pretty sure the owner has no idea what the fuck he's doing either. It's taking him forever.

The only thing i dont do myself is alignments. I just simply dont have the equipment at work to do it. Everything else, i do myself. Anything from simple oil changes, brakes, mounting and balancing tires, and exahust work, to Engine swaps, transmissions, and suspension work. I work at a shop and they give me the chance to work on my car whenever i want, so i can do anything.
I simply dont trust anyone with my car, and am a believer that if you want it done right, do it yourself.

Tire mounting and alignments are the only things I'll take a car to a shop for. Had enough bad experiences with shops, I won't take any vehicle to them anymore. I can do the work, it's just a matter of finding the time to do it

As much as I want to do a lot of stuff besides change oil, I go to a shop because I just don't have the resources to do stuff. Like I would love tO install my springs my self, but I just don't have the stuff besides the basic tools

I do everything on my own. It sucks some times because I don't know a lot and It takes a lot of my spare time. But It's the only way I can afford to have nice stuff.

I do all my own work only thing I cannot do is alignments.I ampretty handy but I have worked on cars since I was 14 but the more you do the more you will learn. And it feels good to know you have done the job yourself.

Done as much as i feel i can do. for instance.
car died a week ago, researched and did everything i could, a gasket came in today that i needed to complete the changing of the fuel pump, if this doesnt work then I'm forced to take it to a mechanic as I'm frustrated and dont know what else it could be. |

I do everything myself except for the things I don't have the equipment for.
I do everything engines but, have to pass on doing internal work on transmissions. Don't know a damn thing about those. I pull them and take them to a buddy.

Transmissions, differentials, and alignments are the only things I don't do... I don't trust people to work on my car and I've never had a flawless experience with a shop. I just can't trust people to do their job correctly....

Having worked at a garage I've seen my share of people get ripped off. Anytime my friends or family talks to me about how they brought their car to the shop, I ask them "You paid that much for what?" Shops like to tell people it's worse than it actually is. Like selling a whole catalytic converter when the pipe could easily be welded. Or selling four brand new OEM wheels for a $1000 when a used set would run $150. Lots of shops thrive on lazy people.
I'll never bring my car to a shop except for tires and alignment. I can do it myself and I don't have the best tool box around, just a little craftsman set and other useful odds and ends. I love having a garage that's for sure.

I do as much as I can, being a girl.. I change my own oil ( SO EASY with a lift!) I've changed my belts, and changed my alternator.. but there are somethings I leave up to my dad, like my exhaust system and lowering kit .. He did that for me
I helped.. by watching and handing the occasional wrench

All my stuff I do myself, whether I know how or not. I'm the type of person where if I don't know how to do something, I like to get under or over the car and start wrenching. Eventually, I figure out what I'm doing and it becomes simple. Granted, things can take longer this way, it's always nice to teach yourself.

I Have Many Leather Bound Books
|
I do both. Although I have the tools and the know-how to do most jobs, sometimes I just don't have the time to do certain things, especially in the middle of winter with the absence of a garage... so I will sometimes take my shit in to my dealership. They take really good care of me, even with my beaters. But when I have the time and there's not 1340853 feet of snow on the ground, I like to do my own work.
