How many of you work on your car? How many don't?

Just curious to see how many of you do all your own work and how many of you have a mechanic you go to?

Eh depends on the work itself. I do the stuff i'm confident in or won't cause too much damage if screwed up. I've done carb swaps which are simple and some other little mods but when it came time with replacing the shoes on my drums I took it to a shop. I didn't want to try changing them and then not be able to stop and tear the car up depends on the work I guess. I do as much as I can with the little knowledge I have.

Majority of the things that need replaced on my car I normally do myself, but like stated previously I wont bite off more than I can chew. Internal engine stuff is not for me... not yet atleast.

Depends. I changed my brakes and rotors the other day. And flushed my radiator. When I was losing coolant a little while back, I tried to figure it out, but stuff like that I would rather leave up to the pros. My car is too low to be towed so I don't want to end up overheated and stranded somewhere. Turns out I just need a new cap though.

I do everything except assemble engines. I rebuild my transmissions, install my own gears, do my own fabrication, and maintenance

I've done everything from brake jobs to engine swaps. I will work on anything that isn't under warranty except for my Mercedes. It sucks but the $100 an hour they charge is well worth me not breaking shit trying to save a few bucks. I don't even rotate the tires myself on that car for fear of blowing the airmatic $u$pen$ion.

I love my Mustang because no matter what I screw up, it won't cost more than $100 to replace the part.

I do everything I possibly can myself. Which is pretty much everything short of machine work. Also, if I need rear end work done and it's a 8.8 I have a buddy do it. 8.8's are such a pain in the ass to get everything right.

Depends on what it is, and how much time vs money I have. Honestly, if I can send it to a shop I will. I can work on it myself, but I'd prefer to spend that time driving it.

I've done everything on mine except replace the heater core, chase down a messed up wire, and do the clutch ( i would have tried that but i needed it done quickly and I didn't have the time or tools.)

Only thing I don't do is my own oil changes. It's only like $1 more to take it to the dealer than to do it myself.

I do most of mine own work, only thing I don't do is anything that involves welding since I can't weld. I haven't dove into my engine yet but I probably will at some point.
My gears I will be having installed though. I'm not about to try that myself haha

I do all of my work, I have paid one person to do something to my car. Only reason I did is because my dad wouldn't let me paint it.

Depends what it is.

Having a shop install longtubes and gears. I try to tackle everything myself if I have the time or resources.
