Sidenote: The area I was in when I interviewed for General Dynamics around there wasn't too bad. Traffic did suck hardcore though.

There are a few things you should know about NOVA,

Traffic is horrendous, we measure distances in minuets to get there, not miles

The general consenus about fairfax county cops is that they are all assholes, sorry but its true, they are very strict in fairfax.

You won't have to put your car away for the winter, we might get 1 or 2 snow storms a winter that actually accumulate to anything. Most just run winter wheels with all seasons due to the salt on the roads and the occasional snow.

People do not know how to drive in the snow, if it starts sticking to the road all hell breaks loose.

There are a few car clubs around here that meet pretty often, NOVA Street Scene and http://www.northernvirginiamustangclub.com
are probably the biggest ones. Mostly imports but there is some muscle in there too.

As far as tracks/races go, the only drag strip in nova is Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas and its only 1/8th mile. For road races there is Summit Point Raceway in WV that is only like and hour and a half away and is a really badass complex. There is the occasional AutoX in big parking lots but they are rare.

Ok great info guys. I really do appreciate it. And Chris IF I get the job, it wouldn't be for a little while because instill have to take the exam, go for the initial 1/2 hour interview, 3 hour polygraph, 8 hour psychiatric evaluation, 2 hour physical ability test, and the background check can take up to 12 weeks. Then again, I should be speeded along because as is, my application should have been back logged till next year but my friend is going to have it pulled now

That's one thing I hate about Ny. Hell, even PA and OH don't use salt.

Anyway, are there vehicle and emissions inspections down there?

Yes they salt and spray the roads like crazy around here because people cannot drive in the snow at all.

Yup there are emissions and safety inspections around here

I personally have never been pulled by a fairfax county cop but everyone I know who has has never been let off.

As long as you're the one pulling me over I'm sure I would be grateful

Little update, just got a rather large packet from the department. Says its a conditional job offer pending polygraph, physical fitness test, psychological evaluation, etc

Nice CodyCat! I know the Fairafx County process is pretty entensive. Good luck getting through it! I know two people that passed, two that are trying, and one that gave up.

Thanks man. I've been lucking out big time so far thanks to some really great people I can proudly call my friends. As I think I stated earlier, all apps are currently backlogged at least a year, but I just applied less than a month ago and they are already assigning a detective for my background investigation.
