Those of you that live in Fairfax county, VA, please tell me about it. I mean everything and anything. I am considering moving there for a job with the county police dept and I'm sure it's quite a bit different than Buffalo. What's the weather like? Hows the car scene? Any drag/road courses? How high are the taxes? Are the local fire depts paid or volunteer? Distance/time to a lake/beach? How much crime (mostly drugs, occasional murder? I don't think there has ever been a murder in my small town about an hour south of buffalo)? Are there better parts of the county, and scummy parts? What is there to do? Time or distance to any theme parks? Literally anything I would like to know. Thanks a lot!

Fairfax has ALOT of rich spoiled people. One of my good friends live about ehhh 20 min from fairfax.

What's up man. I've lived in Fairfax County all my life. SteeD43 answered your main questions so that's cool, but seriously it's a pretty cool place to live. Also;

IF WE GOT MAD MODDED MUSTANG PEEPS LIVING IN NOVA LETS DO SOME MEET UPS SERIOUSLY!

The area is very diverse and runs like a city sometimes; people are always moving, got someplace to go, don't want to sit around, etc. The entire NOVA area is NOTHING like the rest of VA. You should also know that you aren't just moving to Fairfax, VA, you're moving to Northern Virginia, or NOVA and getting the entire package. Everything I just said changes when you get further south, especially Woodbridge. That's where things turn into true Virginia, and the girls down there aren't as hot.

Traffic is a bitch, and by bitch I mean sucks, and by sucks I mean f*!@#* ridiculous. Most of the roads are shit too so you should get use to that.

There is also basically no street racing. I've maybe raced three times in 3 years, so if you're looking you will need to head out toward Dulles or South past Woodbridge.

There is also a lot to do so that's cool, and you can get basically anywhere by bus or the metro. Hit spots are Arlington (Ballston, Clarendon, Courthouse and Rosslyn), Fairfax Corners, Reston Town Center, Pentagon City Mall, Old Towne Alexandria, Tyson's Corner (really nice mall/area but it's just way to crowded) and you also get all of DC.

Oh yeah, there are a lot of hot girls here, and the area is also expensive. Of course the further out you live the cheaper, but again traffic is a BITCH.

The first place you will want to eat at is ANY Great American Restaurant; Mike's American Grill, Sweetwater, Coastal Flats, Silverado, Ozzies:

The second place you will want to go is Top Golf in Kingstowne, which is a driving range with a bar. Yup you can get plastered while working on your swing and they are open year round (got heater to keep you warm):

Third place has the best Brunch in town, is always full of bangin chicks, and has an awesome bar scene. They also just opened up a Rooftop Bar, Ladies and Gents, I am talking about Whitlows on Wilson:

Lastly, you are really close on the Potomac. Don't even think about drinking that water, but there is an entire boating scene if you're into that. I plan on getting a boat by Summer 2013 personally. If you already own a boat, then hit up Tim's Rivershore for some crabs and brewskies.

Oh yeah, they just build the National Harbor. It's pretty freaking amazing, though all the restaurants there suck and are way over priced. I go visit during the summer and hang out.

Hope that explains some of it, and I only gave you a few things and didn't even touch on Dulles Towne Center, Occoquan, Potomic Mills, all the parks, anything in DC, the Nissan Pavilion or Verizon Center....Anything else you want to know?

Also, I'm a suburbs guy, so if you are too you'll be fine. If you're more rural/country then I really don't know how you'd feel about it, but you'd probably just commute to Fairfax and live further out.

Also also, getting a Job with the Fairfax Police Department is hard, so you must be a badass. Congrats on the offer. Don't forget to cut me some slack if you see me flying up and down 395 sometimes.

Haha thanks so much Rich. And I wouldn't say badass, it's just really nice to have connections. And I wasn't technically offered the job yet, but when I go down, like I said, I'm gettin the grand tour and as long as I don't bomb the exam, I should be set. One main thing I still would like to know a little more about is the weather... Do you guys get a decent amount of snow? When do you guys park your cars for winter and take them back out? Buffalo winters suck, but this year has actually been pretty mild. I will give you reps for sure when I get off my phone

cant really answer that.. theyre always different, I DD my mustang year round, its unlikely you'd ever be snowed in if you live in a neighborhood
