i go to Home depot, and i noticed announcements are being made over the loud speaker in SPANISH, i go to McDonalds, the menu is in SPANISH, i went o auto zone, everything was in SPANISH...why cant they learn english??

i dunno it really pisses me off tho because i work retail right now when they come in speaking in spanish and you cant like slap them or anything and yell at them to learn english because then youll get fired

i cant say much more since my family is Southern American...but since i understand spanish most of the ppl i talk to...especially the day laborers that around our turnpike that comment on my car...they just say why cant we learn spanish to communicate with them or they say i dont have time...a bit harsh yes but unfortanatly it is true at least in my neck of the woods...

spanish in hicktown alabama is a synch all you had to do is memorize some words right before the test and forget them right afterwards and BAM a++++++++ that class was so easy and now that ive graduated i probably cant count to 10 in spanish and i refuse to anyway because theres no reason i should have to use it in AMERICA were we speak ENGLISH

Spanish is the second most used language in the US......and +1 the fact that in college you need that language to pass.

I have a buddy of mine whos married to a Bolivian woman...and its sad to see her 2 children know more english then her lazy ass, and their not even past 5 years old...those 2 always treat me like their big bro since i always tell them that without english your limited to what you can really do here in america. and when i talk to the mother she only knows basic introduction and thats it...

well learning the language isnt really the problem for me its the fact that its probably gonna have to be my first language one day jsut because they're the lazy ones that refuse to learn english. English has always been this countries 1st language and i dont think it should change but i would like to learn some german and japanese since a 1/4 jap

i agree with you on that matter...i do know spanish, not all of it, but alot to communicate and understand very well. but for now they cant really go far without knowing english efficiently enough to communicate with others and thats a fact...yeah sure they can get good paying jobs but still.

this is my honest opinion since here in VA its a right to work state...so people get screwed over alot and can be fired or not hired for the smallest and dumbest of reasons....ok rant over...time for me to hand the mic to someone else.

i got lots of bi-lingual friends, some diff languages than others, and they all say english is hard as shit to learn..

thats like me tellin u guys to learn french cuz ur moving to france.. 95% of u wud be like.. "fuck that, ill jus wing it.." (french is VERY hard, for those who dont kno, not even worth learning unless u hav to)

i understand how u must feel about "this is america, we speak english" but ull jus hav to get over that.. in europe, jus about every country requires their students to take english in grade school. ur bitchin about learning spanish to talk to foreigners.. when the whole world has been learning to talk to u for years.. suck it up

Yeah, Maryland is the same way...Right to Work State. They dont need any reason to fire you. They can just do it. If you get paid $20/hour and a mexican says he'll do it for $5.50/hour, your gone.
