TV Life

I've got a tv from like...2000. It's 7 years old and it takes about 2-3 minutes after i turn her on to get picture. I was wondering how long regular tube tvs last. I also have tino and a tendancy to leave the tv on, pauused for hours at a time. Sometimes I'll come home and i'll have the tv on, but in video mode and wouldn't even realize its on cause the screens to dark. About a week ago it was only take like 30 seconds to a minute, but now the time has more then doubled.

Is my TV on her way out? Do I have enough time to start saving for a new one or am i gonna have to dip into my savings? If she goes anyone have any recomendations on brands. I wanna go flat screen, 32 or bigger. Anyone know where to get a good deal?

It's funny cause my grandparent had this color tv from like 70's up until 96 or 94 when she just died. I think they even had it fixed for like 200 bux and then it went to hell again. They bought a new one, and then like 3 years later that one died. My first tv was from like 1983 and it lasted until 2003. Picture sucked balls but shit worked. Is it just me or do Tv's just last half as long as they used to?

It would depend on the brand. typically the more you pay the better the product.

I bought a 19" crt tv in like 97 or 98 and it still works, the catv jack is broken so the picture is fuzzy. If I had it fixed it'd work just fine.

yeah, im not a big fan of the panel tvs yet. Crt technology has been around so long that manufacturers have the know how to make the well for little money. the panels are still getting better but research into long life has taken a back seat to bigger inches. They'll come around one of these years though.

so u saying i should avoid the flat panels and stick to the "old fashion" tvs. I mean i can go to a store right now and get a 32 inch for like 300 bux.

I personally cannot justify paying so much more for a panel tv with an unknown life expectancy when I can get a tube that will last a good 10 years easily for so much less.
