This is a little out of place.

I didnt know where else to post this. i tryed looking for forums about this topic but they all suck. i have a 2003 EB expedition 4.6 2wd. to be blunt this thing is slow as fuck. its my DD and its sufering from a serious lack of power. anybody have any idea on what could be done to extract more power. or better yet have done or know anybody who has done the mods and where they got them from? its out of warranty so that isnt an issue. all the expedition forums i looked at sucked so i figures id try here seeing it has more or less the same engine as the SN95 4.6 stangs. any and all help would be appreciated. and to the mods dont move this to the other vehicles forum cause nobody ever looks in there.

well i know the usual. i already got a 50 series flowmaster on it. what else besides an intake? could i get a custom tune from bama chips? its a 4.6 so why not? and i dont expect it to be a race car but at the same time i want to be able to take a garbage truck from a dig. the 96-98 stangs arent the fastest thing on the planet (no offence) but imagine a 6000 lb truck with 230 hp. could i use speed parts for those engines like a plenum and stuff?

Chech the Kenne Bell sites. I think they actualle make a KB blower for the Ford SUV's.

If that's out of the price range check into a simple nitrous set up.

thats what i was wondering. do they share the same heads/cams/intake? no blower or nitrous. i plan on keepin her for a while. but just as much HP i can get with staying N/A and with bolt-ons . id rather spend the money on mods for the stang but seeing that it is my DD and is laughably slow id like to devote some time/money into her to make it less frustrating when merging onto the interstate. and thanks for the input guys. i appreciate all of it.

yeah i know but i think maybe a grand at most. im think that will get me a cold air intake, UD pulleys, tuner, and maybe some headers. it still will be slow as hell but not as bad as before.

Accept it for what it is, an underpowered slug. Should have gotten the 5.4. It is geared for the smaller motor so you can have more torque to push that weight. You might be able to squeeze some more power with a cold air kit, port the heads or something, but once you drive the Mustang, its back to slow again. I have a 07 Sport Trac with the 292hp, and it is a slug too, so I know what you mean. I am just waiting for the aftermarket to hit for them. Supercharger here I come. Can you imagine my wife coming home and saying the truck has a funny whine? I will just smile and say its normal. She'll never know.

i know how you feel, my wife drives the tow vehicle (06 dakota 4x4 w/ 4.7) that is need of some power improvements itself. its just like anything else, bolt ons, gears, and tune. besides that, diet and boost.

neverfastenough1 you have no idea how i feel. that sport trac would feel like a rocketship compared to my beast. the only reason i went for it is because i got an incredible deal. 03 eddie bauer 2wd w/20k miles for $19k. and it is gettin 15mpg which is alot better than the 5.4s but its still $80 to fill it up. i bet this thing would run close to a 20 sec quarter (not an exageration) but i guess no matter that i do besides a blown built motor its still gonna be slow. i guess i just have to accept i bought a snail. i guess i should look at the bright side and realize that my other car isnt a snail
