Anybody like SHO's? Heres my new DD.

My stateside Daily driver is a 89' white(one of 325 made) SHO. This one is low on the options list and pretty light(under 3100lbs). Here are the details.

89' SHO
3.0L Yamaha V6 bored to 3.3L (wiseco pistons) Liss then 1600 miles on new engine.
bumped compression 10.6:1 up from 9.8:1
slightly ported heads
Extrude honed intake runners and ported manifold tanks
40mm secondary butterflies
80mm MAF
catted performance y-pipe
custom 2.5" single exhaust(hidden under bumper)
rebuilt trans with reinforced differential
Spec stage 2 clutch
155Lph walbro pump
Reinforced front and rear motor mounts
More that I forgot.

I have some stage 1 cams on the table and a SCT chip awaiting reprogramming for this application. Also I have 8lb Fidenza flywheel sitting around to help improve throttle response and drop some more dead weight.

I am installing some Wilwood 4 piston ultralights with some 2 piece 13" rotors and some ss braided lines to make sure I can stop when I need to. Non ABS car though gotta be carefull or I will flat spot the tires. Lol!

Rolling stock will be some 13lb Centerline RPM's in 17x7's with some Pirelli Pzero Rosso's. That should grip well and drop some rototational weight. Might free up some power too.

I will also be looking to drop some dead weight by removing some unneeded crap, pulling some sound deadening, installing some sport bucket seats from Corbeau or Cobra, installing a Momo or sparco steering wheel on a mustang hub adapter installing a 17lb fiberglass cowl hood and maybe removing the spare tire and jack in favor of a can or 2 of fix a flat with a AAA card in my wallet. Hopefully I can get this thing in the sub 3000lb catagory when dry.

This combo should result in some 30+mpg freeway stints and about 235-265whp(depending on if I put the cams in or not) for honda and V8 hunting on the way to work. What do you think?

Oh and my other SHO is getting built for BOOST. By BUILT I mean L/C(8.5:1) Forged 3.2L, fully ported heads, 1mm oversized valves, stage 1 cams, ported intake runners and tanks, 40mm secondary butterflies, 69mm throttle body, shot peened transmission gears and shafts, Quaife LSD, stage 5 axles, ETC.. and by BOOST I mean Turbobetics GT-K650 turbo, 44mm Tial wastegate, Turbonetics Godzilla BOV, ceramic coated mandrel 1 piece up pipe, 3" ceramic wrapped mandrel down pipe, Tweecer R/T, 90mm Lightning MAF, etc.... Basically 550+whp freeway runner.

Like I said the White 89' is my light weight Daily Driver and the Mustang is my spare toy. Also the 320hp modified STS cadillac is my wifes DD till she gets herself something to drive.

stock 85 gt's were still carb'd right? thoses things stock only put out...180ish hp right? i guess that would be a drivers race...unless either of which was modded.

the 85 was in deed still carb'd

and it wouldn't have been much of a drivers race...

the SHO has a 40 HP advantage

SHO's have been known to keep up with and or pull ahead of mustang GT's up to around the 98 model year. The 220hp + 5 gears and a 7300-7500 rpm limiter and 3.73 factory gearing help wind each gear out faster and to higher speeds. Hell I used to take 3rd up to 107mph in my 93'. Now it's the 99-04 Gt's that really give up a fight usually pulling 1-2 cars lengths ahead. This 89' should have no problem dispatching near stock 99-04 gt's.
