It's ALIVE!!!

Well i finally got my car running from the top end rebuild! it sounds good from inside the car, but i do have a tapping sound coming from the engine...I believe that i dont have the rockers set up right, so i am NOT driving it. I hope to tear it back down this weekend, monday, or tuesday...

It should only take a couple hours to adjust the rockers, and then hopefully i am back on the road in a mean little 306.

Yeah, it sounds like you might have some doohicky loose or somethng. I would take the watcha callits off and check those thingamabobs. First I would lay my hand on the valve covers to see if they are hitting them or maybe hitting a baffle. Hope its just an adjustment. Good luck.

with the engine running, take a broom handle and put one end next to the engine and one next to your ear. go along both sides of the engine and you will be able to tell which side its coming from. that should make it easier to find the source of the ticking!

use the screwdriver trick to locate the noise then you may only have to pull one valve cover :wink if its in fact the rockers and not a valve seating issue.

Why'd you do that? I was still picturing him walking around with a broom handle up his, I mean in his ear. I bet one of his neighbors would have video'd that and put it on youtube.

I disagree, it's the "pinned and ported valves" or a loose muffler bearing!

Or use a a large screwdriver with a plastic handle, put over each valve and put you ear to the handle (with the motor running) you'll hear which valve needs adjusting, this is a very old trick.

All the pictures i have are in my photo bucket...A guy I know who ones a performance shop here in BG is hauling my car there and getting it all worked out. The cost? FREE BABY!!! This dude is really nice, and basically only works on mustangs for a living, so i think he can help me out. I havent taken any pictures since putting my lower intake on, but that is what I have...As soon as it is running STRONGLY, lol, i will take more pictures and ALOT of videos...The car is thumpy and loud, but i didnt want to mess anything up so it only ran for like a minute, but hey, that is more than MSO's car will run (just kidding brah.)

I know i know, "dirty engine" but who gives a fuck right? well i dont, just as long it runs well and sounds good, i will be satisfied with this little car.

http://s161.photobucket.com/albums/t228/Tony_90fox/

If you remember me telling you guys i had a horrible exhaust leak, well I am glad to say that it isnt there any longer...I got the header bolts TIGHT when i had all the shit out of the way, and the Stage 8 locking header bolts are a thing i swear by now!

Like i said, more pictures, videos, and even track and dyno numbers to come, stay tuned.
