Hmm, could be that, or could be that its going bad.

If it IS indeed a DVD-ROM Drive, check your power cable and both connections for your IDE cable inside the case. Drivers shouldn't be much of an issue, as MOST hardware is just plug-and-play hardware (Windows recognizes most hardware and already has drivers ready to install).

+1 open your case and check your cables. but before you do that, can your drive recognize anything? if you put another dvd and it doesnt work try a cd of some sort.

it claims its a cd/dvd-rom

its a dell bout 3 years old... and i got a zune a few weeks back and i wanna put some videos on it... but the thing is like...

im a tard don't put that in me...

so i don't know what to do...

the first one is a samsung cd - r/rw sw 252s
second one is a hl-dt-st cd -rom gcr - 8483b

both of which act like they are dvd cd players... and both of which have convinced my computer to display to me that they are both such...

any ideas on where to start?
