Opinions needed??

Tonight I ran across an 86 5L. It has what I believe a stroked out 302. Edlebrock intake, heads and holly 4brl. MSD ignition. It is N/A. Ihas drag radials but are dry rotted. It looked like the suspension, rear end had been done to, ie sub frame connectors etc. Looked like brembo brake all around and 4.10's. The only things I could tell was wrong was the rt frnt fender needed repalced and pnl between the hood and windshield. I got to fire it up and it sounded mean! They guy that's selling it bought it from a woman who's son was setting it up for drag, but he was killed over seas. This guy bought it but his wife is making him get rid of it. He wants 3800 for it. What do you all think?? I will try and get some pics posted tomorrow.

3800, it's a steal, if you are willing to put about 10K into it speed is never cheap. And if you have to drive day to day forget it. If you can plan on a two year build than go for it...not puting you down just talking a lot of years wanting a fast ride with a family. You know what I'm spraying>>>>

best thing you can do is take it by a mechanic you trust to have look at it, there is only so much we can determine on here with pictures and descriptions, also drive it, see how it drives

I suggest that after having an automobile mechanic ascertain the mechanical condition of this vehicle, that if upon finding it to be in sufficient mechanicality, you purchase said motorcar.

Yes, I know mechanicality is not a word. Fuck off. lol

here in America we can it mechanically..serious note here to ansewer W/P and Turbo. If I do get it it's sole purpose in life is to kick ass at the track. I have the 06 for my daily. From what I can tell, I will post some pics. tranny and eng wise it's sound. As far as the drive line ie rear end and clutch and suspension not sure. I am going to ask him to let me road test it tomorrow. But I know I can't get on it to much cause the tires are pretty dry rotted. But at least I can get an idea of the tranny eng and etc. I will also try and get it up on a lift and check it out.

See since it's sole purpose is to be a track car you will be stiffening up your subframe and such so that if you do find sections of rust, and everything you can deal with it as the time comes. If you did a good inspection of the car, and feel good about it then go for it. If there are parts that are worrying you a bit and you don't feel comfortable give it plenty of thought before spending that money. Since it's a fox there are plenty of parts in junkyards and such so you can fix it up for fairly cheap compared to other cars. I would just give it a good full inspection of everything. Since it's gonna be an all out race car then every part of the car needs some sort of attention.
