It gets complicated, but basically an airline transport license is the last rating you can get. You need it to fly planes that carry more than 25 passengers, and weigh over a certain amount. You have to have 1500 hours, and be at least 24 years old to get it.

I have just under 2000 hours total time, and I have about 350 in the Lear, and about 360 in the King Air.

I'm a commercial pilot now. Basically all that means I is I fly for hire. I'm sure you're talking abot going to the airlines, and right now I have no desire for that really. Corporate is a lot more fun becuase we go places and stay for a while where airline guys are like bus drivers and never get to leave the airports really. We get to stay in nice hotels, and eat good food. It's like being on vacation for a job.

but in a year or 2 i'll be in Auburn goin with their 4 year degree in this stuff so it's all good

Awesome. It takes a long time to get where you can get a good job. I just got really lucky because I worked line service for this company for 9 years while I struggled to build time. One day everything fell into place and they moved me up to FO in a Lear 60 with 1000 hours TT from line service. It was quite a jump .

All it takes is money, and a lot of time. I'm still paying on all my training/time building, and probably will be for at least another 7-8 years.

All it takes is money, and a lot of time. I'm still paying on all my training/time building, and probably will be for at least another 7-8 years.
so once i have my required hours and training and education and all that good stuff, how hard is it to find a good job? or is there a high demand for pilots these days?
