UTI (Universal Technical Institute) is an automotive tech school, might want to move the thread to the Clubhouse?

UTI, ATI all those trade schools are a waste trust me I went to ATI for six mods and decided I was better off on my own. They don't even setup your ASE You have to take it yourself and the high performance classes are ALL Import now.

I've heard bad things about UTI. Personally I right now am going to Wyotech and I'll never regret any of it. A slight amount of people regret it, but those are the type to expect to be given grades and expect to be babied. They also believe they know everything before they go to school hence why they went to the school in the first place. I do not know about ATI or much about UTI, but I believe wherever you go, chances are you will get your money's worth if you give a shit. My brother can explain how much I knew before compared to the general information that I know now just in 6 months.

I was an A+ student and my lowest class average was a 97 so yeah, I gave a shit... I just did not find the school to be very challenging or up to date. Plus I went to school with 99% ricer class body.

those schools are ok for what they teach you. They teach the basics and that's about it. I went to Nashville Auto-Diesel College in the early 80's and don't regret it at all. It's kinda funny but the classes I did poorly in are what I'm best at doing now some 20+yrs later. Go to the school, learn the basics, get a job at a dealership and get caught up to date w/ all their factory training.

From what I have heard those schools are not worth it...My cousin goes to one right now and he says they are all about imports for the most part and very very very basic...

I got a job working with Caterpillar and discovered I will no longer need to worry about being an Auto tech at a dealership so I stopped. Now I tear down and rebuild hydraulics every day. Anybody wanna put some hydro's on their stang? I got your back!

FWIW i went to a tech school not for automechanics so i imagine it is rather costly like mine was, a more economical approach may be taking local community college courses and getting your ASE certification then working at a shop or stealership?

Wyotech may be filled halfway with guys that are into imports but they are the students. The lectures and teachers are the exact opposite and there are a lot of domestic enthusiasts as well. I think whatever school you are thinking of applying for, you should try and go for a more reputable school and get into contact with someone who has been through the school and has had a few years of successful experience and see what they think. And these classes are the very opposite of basic, a lot of students think they are in fact too in depth in some cases and that includes me. And just by going to the school I found exactly what I would like to do, I learned more about drivetrain than I ever expected to learn in six weeks.
