Military Tribute.
I know this is an American based forum, and I think I've made my feelings clear on how I feel about the USA.
Although our wimpy, liberal government refused to help our big brother down south in Iraq, us Canadians have a history of fighting with the best of them....when our #($(#@$ govt. decides to help fight for freedom. WWI, WWII, and although we're not in Iraq, we are playing a role still in Afghanistan. And as I say, although our role is much, much smaller than it SHOULD be, as of July we have lost almost 70 troops, with 6 killed on July 6th by an IED. And with a resurgence in Taliban activity, the fatality rate seems to be rising more quickly. When the fuck are we just going to flatten everything over there and show everyone we're not fucking around anymore? Sheesh. I was just googling through the news to see how our troops are doing over there, and stumbled across these videos. Kinda chokes me up a bit, and I thought it was cool, so I figured I'd share it with y'all. ![]() Tribute Tribute I have two kick-ass videos that a friend of mine from Texas made, but 2 of my externals are down atm, and ofc that's where they are. He's a Sgt. with Recon, and is serving his 2nd tour in Iraq, and is due home soon. He made these vids with just a crappy little camcorder, but they're amazing. I'll toss them up one day when I get my externals back online, or find all my backup disks. lol

Believe this : my grandpa Holmes served for both the United States and Canadian militaries. Bet ya don't hear that very often. He was born in BC served in their military though never really deployed, then moved to WA with my grandma and after they were legally of the United States, he joined up with the Army and served over in Germany. As did my dad, and 3 uncles, and 2 cousins. All army boys. My 2 cousins and one very close friend are over in Kuwait, last I heard. Though I'm in no way religious, God bless any man or woman over there. I hope they all make it back home to their loved ones soon. Thank you Zip. Good post.

Thanks Snaker. That's pretty cool about your family, you don't hear that too often. It's funny, as I get older I get more emotional about this shit I guess. A big part of it is I remember the looks on the faces of the Naval servicemen as they were running out of the restaurant I was in on the morning of 9/11. It was near a Naval base, in of all places, Libertyville, IL. Near Chicago. The Full Moon restaurant.
HMUSN, I dunno if you would have this one. I don't think my friend ever put it up on Youtube or other similar media host. It was up at Grouchy Media at one time, but it's not anymore. It sucks that I have it both on hd & disc, but can't get it. I'm hoping to get in touch with his wife and find it again. She musta changed email cause I keep getting my emails sent back. There was a time when he left for his first tour, that I had remote access to her pc so I could help her stay online with him in the dessert, until she was confident enough herself to keep things going....but somehow I don't think she would appreciate me just 'popping in' to her pc after a year or so. Prolly changed IP's by now anyway. :wink lol But, just in case, it's about a 4 minute video, set to Sleep Now In The Fire by Rage Against The Machine, made by Sgt. Garcia.

Small world. I love living here. Just a shame certain countries have to be the way they are. Kinda makes a lot of people's lives miserable. Hurts me to think about how many people have been affected, just in the last few years.
